There wasn’t any item I had that I would order again or was a WOW to me. Maybe  my palate different from local but I do consider myself a foodie.  But I have been eating Japanese food for 40 years and for high end dining I would rather take low end. The service was impeccable however and the atmosphere was very pleasant. The plating wasn't very inspired but I wouldn't have cared that much if the food dazzled me.  I learend when we were there that the Michelin Star ended in 2018. Also the head chef clearly is very intimidating to the young apprentices. That might be par for the course.  But it was so much in front of us it made me uncomfortable.  I've been to other performance style dinners and didn't see that kind of intense hierarchy.

We celebrated our anniversary here tonight and couldn’t have been happier with our pick! It was such an authentic Japanese experience. Every dish was centered around fresh seasonal local ingredients were skillfully prepared and beautifully presented.

We sat at the bar and the chef was so kind and patient with us, us being foreigners and not speaking much English and all. It almost felt like we are dining in the home of a master chef.

It was very unfortunate that both of us actually had food poisoning prior to going to the restaurant. We fully understood that we could not cancel last minute and decided to still go, hoping that we can last through dinner. Today was our anniversary after all and we really wanted to dine at the restaurant.

We were actually late for about 15 minutes because of our upset stomachs. We called to let them know that we will be late and they were very understanding. I felt very ashamed and thought that maybe they will be upset because we appeared like “rude foreigners” right from the start; however, they were so nice when we arrived and still gave us 1000% good service.

Although the chef didn’t speak fluent English, he tried his best to very carefully explain every dish to us. He made sure that we understood what we are eating and how to eat them, even if it took many tries with different words and hand gestures.

Sadly, halfway through our meal both of us still felt very ill from the food poisoning that we suffered this morning. It had completely nothing to do with the restaurant but we couldn’t finish the meal. 😢

I explained the situation to them using a translation and they were again so kind and understanding. They didn’t make us feel bad at all and still walked us out after we paid, sending us away with the highest professionalism and courtesy.

All-in-all, I feel like we weren’t great customers, and hope to come back again the next time that we are in Tokyo to get the complete experience and be better customers. 🙂

The limited dishes that we did eat tasted really amazing, and we want to thank the chef and all the staff again for helping us celebrate our anniversary. Even though we couldn’t finish, we had an amazing meal and will have wonderful memories to keep from tonight. Thank you so much! 🥰

Delicious and intimate dining experiences, truly amazing. All ingredients are seasonal, fresh and of the highest quality. Chef Uchiyama and staff are very kind and helpful, even to a foreigner like me who was a bit confused on the proper way to eat things at times. This is a must go! I believe that the expensive price matched the dining experience, and that other restaurants in Tokyo with this quality would be even more expansive.

I am so thankful that we managed to get a booking, especially on a public holiday.

Every dish was surprisingly simple yet complex in flavor

The chefs were trying their best with English and we were trying our best to speak a tiny little bit of japanese. It made for really hilarious conversations

I felt like I was on a culinary adventure through Japan. Time stood still with every bite I took.

My favorite was the rice dish with sesame sauce. So simple yet such deep complex flavors.

I wish i could relive this meal again

From the moment you step down into the world of Ginza Uchiyama, you are in for an absolute treat. The calm ambience, attentive service and most of all, seeing the glorious skills of Chef Uchiyama and his dedicated team right in front of you as they take you on their food journey, was just incredible. Each dish was presented to us prior to them being thoughtfully made and we were even encouraged to take photos. And each and every dish was just absolutely delicious. It was truly the most epic dinner experience of our entire lives, so much so that my husband was honoured to get Chef Uchiyama sign his cotton napkin at the end of the night.

We came here last week, to celebrate our wedding anniversary from Melbourne, Australia and my husband only happened to mention this to Chef Uchiyama several courses later/ much later in evening, which he said coincidently was the same year that Ginza Uchiyama opened (2002)! Lo and behold at end of the night, when the final dish was served, the team had made the effort of presenting it on a specialised platter with a hand made card (with hearts and even the Aussie and Japanese flags together). We were incredibly touched.

Thank you so much Chef Uchiyama and your brilliant team for such an amazing experience. The impeccable service, culinary skills, warm and beautiful smiles throughout the evening and most of all, the food like no other, was the highlight of this Tokyo trip. We are already dreaming of our next visit. Arigatou gozaimasu

This is my favorite chazuke in Tokyo. I've been for lunch several times, and although the mood is relatively austere (no one speaks), the atmosphere is relaxing and service is excellent. They've gotten rid of their cheapest "bento" with chazuke lunch course, which makes the 5400JPY the least expensive option. If you love raw fish, and can eat seemingly endless amounts of it, this is the place for you. Personally, i would have liked more vegetables. Note: they are extremely courteous and accommodating with respect to dietary restrictions and took care to exclude meat, shellfish and crustaceans from my meal.
