The course was underwhelming. For the high price, I expected much more in terms of flavour, technique, and ingredient. The food tasted rather ordinary, with no single outstanding dish, and I guess that's partly because they pride themselves in tempura kaiseki, so 2/3 of what you're getting is essentially tempura. The ending featured 3 rice dishes which was rather boring (1 with a fried egg and katsuoboshi, another with yasai kakiage mixed in, and lastly with matsutake). Service isn't too great, and you'll need to be able to speak Japanese for the chef to speak to you, but that's just how it is in some restaurants in Japan sometimes. Overall, I'd recommend just visiting a tempura omakase where you can get a wider range of tempura at a much lower price and similar quality.

A really delicious meal. Fans of Ginza Shinohara will find familiar flavors but Kitagawa-san has a distinct point of view and style.

The fact this place only has one michelin star is a myth. I’ve been to ~10 michelin 3 stars restaurants around the world, including Ryugin, and none of those is as tasty as here. Every single course are flawless. My favorite is that piece of tuna tempura, so fresh that I feel like been punched by umami when I took the first bite.
