If you wanna have a straightforward hardcore Japanese Jiro Ramen, go here! Its all about the service and simple but strong flavoured food. Only ramen served, flavour is more to a specific type then mix of various flavours. Even at 8:30am there was already a line of locals. The portions are HUGE! I am a huge foodie and ordered the regular and not the double pork and still was struggling. If you're into the very local experience and like not only the popular Ramen type, this is THE place.

We had huge bowls of delicious, fatty ramen at Ramen Jiro! The staff are friendly. We arrived shortly after 2p and we're afraid we'd be turned away since they "close at 3p," but it appeared as though they do not turn people away. We were seated around 3:20p.

We ordered a "small" bowl with pork and a large bowl with pork. The large bowl was too much, even though we hadn't eaten since breakfast! While we enjoyed the first 2/3s of our bowls (and that was plenty of food to satisfy us), the last bit was difficult for us to eat given how salty and oily the broth was. However, I still rate this 5 stars because by the time we reached that point, we were plenty satisfied and had really enjoyed what we'd had.

The noodles were the best we've had over our 4-5 bowls of ramen (all from top-rated shops) this trip!

I hit up Jiro’s since it was second to last day in Tokyo. I decided to go on a Monday around 9am and was seated within 20 minutes. It had been raining the last few hours so this the perfect time for a bowl of ramen. So place only holds about 12 people so plan accordingly. It’s well worth the wait as this ramen was INCREDIBLE. You get huge thick slices of roast pork, the noodles were nicely cooked and soaked up the broth well. The added garlic and sprouts make it a rather hearty meal. Be prepared to come on an empty stomach as their 600 yen option (top left/purple button) was more than adequate.

Cons: The broth is very salty and oily. I consider myself a person who likes things well seasoned and cooks with a good amount of salt (salt my pasta water like the ocean kind of salty) but the broth and chasu were way over board. I understand you want a saltier/stronger tasting broth for thicker noodles but still too much. I also like a good amount of fat to my food but the broth is way too oily. There is about a half inch layer of oil on the surface of the bowl and every slurp you are fighting for your life to not get it on your clothing or into your arteries for that matter. Definitely not a health freak but it’s not enjoyable. Also, I’m not sure why someone mentioned the workers are nice but one of the staff yelled at me for trying to be proactive and taking the empty seat as it opened. Also looks dirty in there with grease stains and possible rodent sebum.

Pros: line moves pretty fast, noodles and bean sprouts are good but definitely better ramen in Tokyo
