Visited here on Culture Day so there were some extra shows and displays. Firstly, it’s huge! So much ground to explore and interesting architecture. I even got to witness some horse archery.

As a lot of other reviews mention: it does get packed very quickly!

A very big shrine surrounded with a big garden. Easy to reach by bus and surprisingly take the most beautiful sunset during the trip. Shrine is big and have to walk around 15 minutes from the entrance to reach the center. We go around 3pm so a bit rush as the shrine will be closed around 5pm.

A large shrine dedicated to the first and beloved emperor of Japan. An interesting shrine in a huge park. A good place to spend the morning.

History is included at the venue and in the pictures.

Goshuins are delicately hand drawn and are at 500 Yen.

Definitely one of my favourite places to visit in Tokyo! Meiji Jingu is a rare jam tucked away in a peaceful forest area. The beautiful ancient architecture and ambience will give you a sense of calm and zen. I especially love that you can make wishes and prayers there! One of the things I enjoyed most is the walk through the forest to the shrine. Don’t forget to purchase the charms there that make great souvenirs / gifts!

Definitely worth a visit. The walk in is definitely not short but it was really therapeutic with the lush trees and birds chirping away. Once you get to the shrine you're greeted with a magnificent sight of the architecture of a traditional shrine. I'd highly recommend heading out each of the exits of the shrine just to take a look at the walking paths.

I visited during Golden Week and it was not as crowded as I had expected. And given the crowd, I am glad that there were no squeezing around to get through to anywhere. The place is also litter free which is very much appreciated.
