Depending on the season of your visit, this pond might look outstanding or a little boring. We visited in autumn, so no flowers anywhere, some people might be disappointed because of that. It's an interesting place to do some birdwatching, as waterfowl can be found here, sometimes some migrants appear too.

The pond looks so beautiful with Plum tree alongside. It's so relaxing to stroll along. Near to Ueno Park and Ueno Ameyoko Shopping Street.

What a beautiful part of the park to visit. You have the temples and beautiful view of the pond. I highly recommend coming early in the morning so you don't have to deal with too many people.
The temples open around 9AM, so it isn't that bad.
You will see fish and turtles in the pond.
Nice place to relax and take pictures. The park is super close to the train station, so you don't have to walk a lot even if it is a rainy day or a sunny one.
The only day that may be really busy is Sunday because families like to enjoy to go around this area or to the Zoo that is super close to the pond and the temple, so if you don't want to be waiting to take pictures, then try to go during the week.
If you go a rainy day, then you will have way more chances to take the better pics or recons videos since not too many people around. Just those who pass by to go to work or only are curious to see what is inaide the park.

My visit to Shinobazu Pond in Ueno Park on an overcast weekday afternoon was quite picturesque. The pond was vibrant with abundant lilies, making the summer visit particularly beautiful. Despite the overcast skies, the park was fairly crowded, which added to the lively atmosphere of the place.

Adjacent to the pond, the 17th-century Bentendo Temple is a cultural highlight. Dedicated to the goddess Benzaiten, known for wisdom and music, the temple offers a serene retreat and is beautifully surrounded by lotus flowers, making it a captivating spot for photography and relaxation. The best time to visit Shinobazu Pond is during the early morning, especially to see the lotus flowers in full bloom, as they are most radiant before closing up later in the day.

Nice place to sit down and relax.. but the construction going on is noisy/ distracting.. not to mention a lot of rowdy tourists too (from a north Asia country).
