This place has been here forever! And true to form, is just as busy as ever.
Even on a Monday night!
Our reserved table was located right in front of the busy drinks counter.
Bright. Noisy. Loud.
I’ve not been here for several years but fortunately the manager knew enough to move us to a better table once one was available. Without us prompting!
As usual, we ordered a huge selection.
Kudos to the restaurant… taste is just as good. But… the Grilled  Fish could be fresher, Omelette could be fluffier and the Rendang could have more meat in the order.
Servers Libib and Firdaus were excellent! Quick. Professional. Personable. Hard to find such service quality in a city packed with eateries!!!

I visited this place for a gathering with friends, and it was an excellent experience! The food was absolutely delicious, and the service was top-notch. Special mention to the waiter, Dante, who provided outstanding service and made the evening even more enjoyable. Highly recommend!

Love the food here! One of the best places for Malay-Indo cuisine. We had the set for 2 (RM138) and food portion is befitting for at least 3-4 pax. Got to credit our server (Dante) who takes great pictures and even drone-style videos!

Dancing Fish at Bangsar Shopping Centre - A Unique Experience with Room for Improvement

Located on the third floor of Bangsar Shopping Centre, Dancing Fish offers a charming Indonesian dining experience. Though not on the Michelin or gourmet radar, it presents a unique concept with its cozy ambiance. The highlight of the décor is the rattan canopies shaped like traditional fish traps, creating a distinctive and private dining atmosphere.

We started with the Kedondong Plum drink, a refreshing green beverage with a taste reminiscent of guava and salted plum—quite unique and enjoyable.

The food presentation was visually appealing, particularly the fried fish, which was creatively styled. However, the fish itself had disappointingly little with a large number of bones, and while the accompanying sauce was decent, it didn’t leave a lasting impression.

The soft-shell crab dish, unfortunately, fell short as the salad served alongside made the crab soggy. Serving the components separately would have preserved the crispiness of the crab.

The grilled chicken which was dry,  ordered as a half portion, was generous and more than sufficient for three people. In hindsight, a quarter portion would have been more appropriate as we struggled to finish it.

For dessert, the sago with tropical fruits was average. While the flavors were fine, the sago was overly dense, which detracted from the dish’s overall appeal.

Overall, the restaurant offers a pleasant and unique ambiance, thanks to its innovative seating concept, but the food quality is average. With some improvements to the execution of dishes, it has the potential to become a standout spot for Indonesian cuisine in KL.

First time to Dancing Fish with my friends. Really very good! Enjoyed every dish here! The fish, duck and satay is a must order!
