Dropped by this place twice, second time was to give it another shot because for some reason people seem to be flocking here. My second time was better than the first - I got their Honkie Beef Stew for dinner. It was yummy the first few bites, and then it started getting very "jelak". It was also supposed to have mashed potatoes which was disappointingly difficult to find under the pile of...stew. The first time, we hated it because it felt like random things were thrown onto a plate to create some sort of a 'fusion'. The food was not fresh either. I don't see myself coming back here again unless I'm around the area.

I quite like the adventure of discovering a new place at a very odd location. This kinda enticed my curiosity and when I discovered it, I was like an excited kid whee haha The place itself is amazing and beautiful! Lovely space, lovely lighting with gorgeous corners, artwork and furniture. As we entered, we grabbed a menu and took a seat at the far end of the cafe. After choosing what we wanted, went over to the cashier to order. They didn't have many things on the menu, which kinda bummed us out. The waffles weren't available and about 2 other dishes; to be fair, they stated on the menu that these weren't available but I was just curious to know why they don't replenish their food? Oh well Anyway I ordered fresh juice, an iced cafe latte and a savoury pancake. Our drinks came fairly quick and, according to the menu, we'd have to wait 20min for the kitchen to prepare our pancake. But as per our luck, 40 minutes later and still nothing. I didn't realise time passed by so quickly! Gian was getting irritated because it was 20minutes extra we could be using to walk around kl. I asked the waitress and after she went to check, they apologised and said there was something wrong with their machine system thing I dunno. They compensated with a free coffee which I gave Gian to calm him down haha. I guess that's ok but ... ?? What an underwhelming experience I guess?? The pancake was good but now when I think about it, I think of your broken machine that forgot my order. Anyway, the place itself is beautiful, I'd recommend to go for coffee or cakes since they have those ready at the counter. Or just order something quick to make a remind the staff to check on your food lol And go at least once just to see how pretty the space is! But I'm not sure if I'll bother going through the trouble of visiting kl city centre to make a second trip. We'll see.

If you're over the heat after exploring Petaling Street, Merchant's Lane serves as a perfect refuge. We walked right past the entrance as we were looking for it, so if you find yourself in front of an abandoned storefront, you've gone a bit too far. Backtrack to the beginning of the row of that building's set of stores and you'll see an entrance to enter. A bright, airy space greets you when you reach the top of the stairs, a welcome sight after battling through Petaling Street traffic. It's a very hip place, so you'll find that the average age is pretty young, with groups of people gathering around their prized orders, strategically placing each item for the best aesthetic effect. We had the "Better than Sex" dish, which was an interesting mixture of pandan pancakes, ice cream, and cheese. The cheese mixed with the pandan confused me and took a couple bites to get used to. They've also got a rose milk tea, which is really pretty to look at, but the massive cup of lactose just doesn't quite hit the spot for me. So after the somewhat underwhelming food and drinks, what does Merchant's Lane have going for it? I can't say it's the best coffee that I've had, nor is the food amazing, but I think Merchant's Lane's winning card is the atmosphere it brings to the older part of KL. The ambiance and decor mixes a bit of industrial with some girly aesthetic, and the location serves as a wonderful oasis just to take a break and chill out.

Tucked away in the quiet end of Chinatown. Merchants lane is hidden away behind these beautiful turquoise doors which lead up to a very authentic and rustic restaurant. You go up to the counter to order and take a seat. There was plenty of seating inside and there is a mall courtyard area to lounge and enjoy your meal. The food was served quick and was delicious. We had the Kai Fan 3.0 that had a beautiful turmeric curry sauce served with fried chicken, rice, egg and stir fry veggies.

Great place to have a quiet time for yourself while enjoying the coffee or a quick meal. I love their deco and the rustic look. Do come early if u want to get the best spot here during weekends. Great place for a date and bonding time with your family. For those who are into photography, this would be a great spot for your photo sessions.

Omg this place sucks. Drinks are bland and no taste. Yet so many people are waiting in line for a table!! What the heck. Food was horrible and a very noisy place. Definitely not a place you'll want to stay for a quiet work or chat type of place. It's like a jungle. People got nothing to do but come in groups and take photos for Instagram. I literally got so annoyed with the atmosphere to get out of here..

A rather expensive cafe with excellent coffee selection. However, this is better suited for meals than just coffee or working.

Really nice atmosphere, decorative interior and a good vibe. We had charcoal burger and pesto pasta, both with a twist and quite tasty. Worth a stop if youre in KL and looking for something different than the traditional noodles and rice dishes.
