We specifically chose to have drinks here before proceeding to have dinner at Ki-Sho downstairs. The chief bartender was very solemn and serious throughout, and prepared our cocktails with the utmost professionalism, but lacked a smile for customers unfortunately, and even came across as a bit cold. We found out later from our server downstairs at Ki-Sho that it was mainly because of his limited command of English, and hence the silence and seriousness.
All our cocktails were delicious, but perhaps the more fruity ones were less so. I'd encourage you to be more adventurous in picking your drink.
Lastly, we were slightly taken aback when we were served tap water (instead of filtered water at least). Surely this establishment could do better given the location, ambience, pricing and the clientele they were targeting.

Amazing cocktail bar in Singapore — beautifully presented cocktails. Cosy atmosphere. I would definitely return. You need to book in advance.

Classic vintage ambience  Japanese bar with great spirits that can spice up a perfect evening.
Customer service is outstanding. Jazz music peps up the mood.

Interesting small speakeasy on the top floor of a Japanese restaurant - hidden behind an unassuming door that requires a code to be open. There are about 12 seats at the bar and a couple of small tables.

It’s a one-man show - one skilled bartender looking after everyone. The drink list includes classics, unique cocktails and rare spirits. We tried one polar bear ($28) and Moscow Mule ($28) both excellent and well balanced. The chocolate soufflé cake ($28) was very disappointing (hence why 4 stars) - it did not seem like a soufflé and was just ok in terms of taste. It was rich, so definitely enough for two people as stated on the menu, but not very good and too expensive. I’d come back for drinks and perhaps to try the savoury food options, but I recommend skipping desserts.

Service and atmosphere is top notch. Server and bartender are attentive and prepared the cocktails with precision. Atmosphere is dim, cozy, intimate with soft jazz in the background.

Cocktails are a miss though, which is pity considering the ambient. Prices (SGD 28 and up) are a bit higher compared to other established bars out there.

Had an Old Fashioned served in ice chunks, instead of 1 large ice block. I can overlook this for a casual bar, but inexcusable for a serious cocktail bar. Taste wise, the Old Fashioned was off-balance, overly bitter, lacking sweetness and diluted too quickly from the multiple ice chunks used.

Tried a second drink - Asuka. Matcha powder whisked with green tea liqueur, then shaken with Kahlua and cream. Drink texture was creamy smooth, but taste was again off-balance. Clash of nutty bitterness in matcha and coffee, lacking sweetness to balance out, leaving an unpleasant after taste.

Not convinced with the cocktails and prices do not justify the quality.
