As someone who always visits museums and libraries when I comes to a new city, this place is high on my recommendation list for anyone visiting Seoul. They always have interesting exhibits and the entrance fee is quite affordable at around $7 for all exhibitions. They also have an interesting architecture and design so it’s just a cool space to be and kill time.

After you’ve seen all the exhibits, there is also a very cool gift shop that you can visit and simply browse. There are also free storage lockers if you want to drop off the bags while visiting. See what exhibitions are available when you arrive and drop by if you’re interested!

As of end of 2024, this is a recent museum and it is very big inside. There are multiples exhibitions at the same time. There are free lockers. It is good place where you can spend 2 hours. Choices of artists is focused on recent trends.

An excellent museum of modern and contemporary art in Seoul. This time around, I visited mainly for the Asian women artists exhibititon. The staff were generally very helpful.

Compare to a lot of the world's greatest art museums, the MMCA is a tremendously large building with not enough in it. As someone who absolutely loves art galleries and travel for them, even some of the art here was too abstract for my taste. There were no free exhibitions when I visited so i had to pay for entry if i wanted to see anything at all. If you have people with you who don't usually like art, ask them to reconsider as I didn't find the works to accommodate art 'newcomers'.
