It’s a nice walk here along Seoul palace walls. But it was more tiring than I expected! Met a nice local along the way who brought us on a detour due to the maintenance works.

I finished the first leg of my Seoul City Wall hike here. I plan on eventually walking the entire wall in the future. It’s not to difficult, the section between Heunginjimin and Hyehwamun. The sights along the way are pretty spectacular. I met a friendly cat along the trail.

#hanyangdoseong , the #seoulcitywall, was a fortress with 620 years of #history protecting #Seoul against invaders. The amazing 18,56 km of the wall with a high of 5 × 8 m is surrounded by four mountains in the heart of Seoul. This #heritage is the world's longest and oldest city walls. Some modifications were done when the expansion of the city took place and 70% of the wall was repaired, rebuilt, and preserved. Today this historic place is used for leisure, hiking, and walking with a wonderful view.

Small picturesque gate at the Northern end of the Seoul Wall  Trail.  Original gate dates back to 1396, but been rebuild and moved since.  Worth a stop and photo opportunity.

Hyehwamun is the one of the main gate of Hanyang, old name for Seoul used at Jo-Seon nation. It's built again in 1992~1994,  because it was collapsed at Colonial period by Japan.
