My first meal in Korea few days ago. Very authentic Korean restaurant. Tried thier ginseng chicken soup. Simply love it as it’s not those bitter ginseng taste. Suits me. Seafood pancake was good. And the fried chicken as well.

Came for breakfast as it opens at 9am. Ordered the black chicken and it came in boiling hot soup with ginseng. Overall a very hearty meal to kick-start the day. The side dishes were nice to go with. I have been dining at Baekje Samgyetang for years, but this time, I noticed some changes. The ginseng chicken soup is still decent, with options for both black chicken soup and regular ginseng chicken soup. The flavors are acceptable but not particularly impressive or surprising.

However, what stood out more this visit was the service. Unlike previous visits, I didn’t see the usual male owner. Instead, there was a woman who seemed to be the boss, and her attitude was less welcoming. She kept speaking loudly in Mandarin to the staff, almost as if arguing, and frequently urged customers to place their orders quickly.

We were a family of 3 visiting Seoul during Christmas of 2024. I wanted to try the famous Ginseng Chicken so we went to this restaurant. It was a popular destination for many tourists, especially from Hong Kong. We ordered Ginseng Chicken and Seafood cake. Both were mediocre in taste. The chicken was a a bit “old” 老雞 and “not fresh” taste. The cake was too oily and thick. All in all, I rather went to a BBQ or the popular Kimchi-Hot-bowls. It was -1 Degree outside and very cold. The only thing warming was the hot bowl of soup in the Ginseng Chicken bowl. Recommendation: not come again.
