Nice shop, I didn't try the ice cream because there's always a big queue. It's a characteristic design and if you're near, a quick visit is mandatory. Was an old ophthalmologists shop, and the very high ceiling is impressive. They sell cakes and tea, typical from Taiwan, beautifully packed. Inside there's also a small coffee

lucky for us that the queue was not too long when we arrived. basically a shop that sells ice cream. there are many flavours and topping. if you buy the biggest one, then the ice cream will look very pretty 🥰 but honestly, i just think that ice cream quite the same everywhere. there was no sitting area available so we quickly finished up the ice cream and go. beside the ice cream store, also a chocolate store but i didn't buy any because it seems so expensive

This store has a nice retro feel and even feels a bit like a scene from Harry Potter. They have all sorts of biscuits, cookies and chocolate, some of which are packaged to look like LP records and CD box sets. The ice cream is in another section of the store and there was a queue to order. They have many flavours and we enjoyed the mango and 100% chocolate ones. The ice cream was worth the wait and very good.

For such a popular and talk-ed about place, the ice cream was one of the worst I ever tasted. So icy and not at all smooth, this went way below expectations, and then some. But kudos to them for having a wide range of flavours from the standard ones to the more interesting tea-based ones. If you love your ice cream, absolutely do not waste your time here.

Beautiful place and nicely design. Ice cream was quite good but not too special. We ordered the 2 scoops with 2 toppings.
Chocolate flavours is considered as premium so need additional charge.
Expect the long queue but move quickly.

Miyahara was originally constructed in 1927 by Japanese ophthalmologist Miyahara Takeo as an ophthalmology clinic. After Japan's defeat in 1945, it became the Taichung Health Bureau. The building suffered damage from the 1999 earthquake and 2008 typhoon, leading to its abandonment. In 2010, the building was purchased by Dawn Cake, a Taichung-based pastry brand, and underwent renovation. It was transformed into Miyahara Ice Cream and opened its doors in 2012.
