A very beautiful place and give you a piece of peaceful mind!
However, there is no mountain house, you must camp here. And some people really not nice at all that “toilet” next to the water, which is everyone’s water source there. Come on!!!

Big reward for a fairly low effort! The trek takes about 4-5h one way (from the forest side) with only one steep section at the end. From Alishan the trek is considerably longer

During the summer the water is much cleaner thanks to the nearby tiny rivers, but one the dry season hits the lake gets still and dirty (=bring your own water)
It is possible to swim inside the lake if there's enough water, but the water is pretty cold!

Campsite next to the forest lake is not too spacious (6 tents?) but there's a bigger campsite "around the corner" which will welcome you with tons of trash.

Avoid weekends to escape the crowds and especially the commeesial groups.

So beautiful. Worth the hike for 6 hrs. Better be early because it will be crowded especially on holidays . Advice to go there @ weekdays.

Mysterious hidden place, worth to visit once in life. And this spot will not exist forever since it was created by 921 earthquake and will last more about 20+ years only.
