This was a very nice experience. Very educational. Amazing to see the structure and how large it was. The grounds and the house were very well kept and for the most part people were very responsible as there were very few guards around. They have a beautiful pond and garden with huge grass carp. The story was very interesting and how they moved and preserved these structure.
Here's the problem. When it starts getting really hot and humid, there's no air conditioning there. They have some fans but pretty much they are useless. It's way too hot to enjoy this place in this summer. Keep this in mind when visiting.
Depending on how much you would like to read, I would give this place about an hour. Around the area there are beautiful gardens.
Fascinating in that it is right near the city airport. You can sit outside the gardens and by the road and watch the planes fly overhead. A lot of propeller and old planes which are fascinating.
When we went, there was no charge. It was quite busy but manageable and there were times that there were no other tourists around us. All you do here is stroll around the gardens and walk through the house on your own and read at the descriptions.
I think it is comparable in age to the United States Mount Vernon, but it's fascinating to see the differences.

I highly recommend going to Lin An Tai if you wanted to see authentic Taiwanese structures and to feel relaxed. We wandered around for some time on a Friday and it wasn’t crowded. Loveliest time there: the rustle of the leaves, the pond, the structures and yeah- you would see planes that are about to land from time to time which won’t interrupt anything at all, it just adds to the beauty of the place.

No waiting needed. Entrance is free. People go there to do their wedding photoshoots so please be careful not to bother them.

Beautiful landscape and inspiring architecture! We had a great time touring the Lin historical compound. Despite free entry, this place has a nice facilities with clean restrooms and water dispensers. Would love to come back with a nice cup of beverage and relax in this beautiful serenity.

Location: not really far from Red MRT station, very easy to find via Google Map. Ticket is free.

Experience: when you get in, you should take a map at the main gate, it has a small quiz and guidance for you to enjoy the trip. A quiz is about collect stamps which located different in the mansion, very interesting. After finishing it, you can use it as a post card and they will send it to the address you write on it.

Sightseeing: a lots of traditionally alluring corner to take photos, best on a sunny day.
