Located in the basement off an alley, this Michelin Bib Gourmand beef noodle soup spot was still packed at 9 pm on a Friday. I wasn't as big a fan of their homemade thicker ribbon noodles in soup form, I prefer thinner noodles in soup. The broth is also a lighter style that lacked depth for me. The beef cubes were mostly tender, though I got a dry piece.

Still an enjoyable bowl of beef noodle soup, and my friends loved it. The bowls come in small or large, and large is only NT$20 more. We split a large bowl with beef, tendon, and tripe among three people as a late snack, and added an extra side of beef. Don’t miss the make your own sauce bar.

Home-made beef noodle (soup) ($190):
The beef cutlets were relatively juicy and tender. The broth had salty and sweet flavours and it wasn’t greasy, which was perfect. The noodles were amazingly sliced and had the best texture of all time.

Furthermore, you take the beverage ($30 for each) from the fridge saying Coca Cola and side dishes from the fridge beside the counter.

In conclusion, this beef noodle soup restaurant has always been super popular and crowded because it is recommended by the Michelin Guide. However, the staff will give you the menu to fill in while you’re in the waiting queue. Reasonable prices, efficient service, and superior quality.
The restaurant is located on the basement floor of Wan Nian building.
Overall, it’s definitely a 10 out of 10!

70 year old handmade noodle shop run by the third generation of a northern Chinese family. Recipient for the last few years, including 2024, of a Michelin Guide Bib Gourmand recommendation, this place has its formula for food and services down to a science.

On a Monday afternoon, I was able to get seated immediately upon entering a 75% full restaurant. The servers, mostly women, not only see you quickly, but they also give you a menu. Take your order and serve you very efficiently. Help yourself to side dishes and drinks from refrigerators on either side of the dining room. There is also a self surface condiment bar where you can stir up your own creation of hot bean sauce, chili oil, vinegar, and even whole heads of garlic if you fancy munching on clove or two with your meal. You’ll pay at the counter after eating.

Because I had had beef noodle soup elsewhere today, I ordered sesame paste noodles here, which are vegetarian and have an umami-rich, nutty sauce that I augmented with hot chili paste, vinegar, chili oil, chopped scallions, and pickled vegetables from the condiment bar. The noodles were perfectly chewy and just a delight to eat with that lovely sauce.

The chive and pork dumplings are heavy on the greens and have a thick chewy wrapper which I found overpowered the small quantity of filling. While they were tasty. I preferred the dumplings I had had earlier in the day which were meatier had a better wrapper to filling ratio.

A smashed cucumber side dish was garlicky and crunchy with a sweet and sour marinade, completely beguiling.

All in all I understand why Michelin recognizes the quality and integrity of this restaurant’s offerings which focus on upholding the original recipes of the founder and serving customers who long for a traditional bowl of noodles.

Really tasty and affordable handmade beef noodles. The beef is really tender and well cooked. I like how the broth was on the lighter side so that you won’t get so surfeited halfway through, and it actually made it much more addictive to continue eating mouth after mouth. Try the dry noodles too if you can as the noodles itself packs a little more flavour due to the sauce that they add in. The dumplings had generous amounts of filling inside and were a great side dish to have.

Highly recommend! Iconic beef noodle store was super affordable and efficient to get in/out of. They seat you quickly, food arrives with a few minutes, and the portions are generous even with the low cost. The noodles are hand cut so they are a little thicker but very fresh and the flavor is on point! Don’t forget to grab the small appetizers from the fridge… recommend the pickled cucumbers. Also if you like cold noodles, their sauce and flavor were also great!!  The location is a bit hidden, located in an underground food court so enter through the alley and walk down the stairs/escalator.
