Mao Kung is a small village in the mountains on the outskirts of Taipei City. It has popular amongst the locals for hiking and tourism for its aboriginal heritage sites and tea farms. There are small cafes and restaurants at the top. This cafe is dedicated to the outlook with multi level and patio views of Taipei City. Their menu is a mixture of western and Asian items all of which are good. It's especially popular on the weekends and hard to get a romantic table perched on one of the patios to watch the sunset. You can hop on bus, or take a taxi / uber. However there is a cable car gondola that takes you to the top.

Neat little cafe with a great view. The new store is actually under construction when we visited. So they're using a temporary locale across the street. I can imaging once the build their new store it's going to have an amazing view of the gondola line along with taipei 101 skyline. Price is good you're paying for the view and the shade. I'd recommend a atop if you're strolling up or down the mountain. There's an actual cat at the cafe too.

There's so many restaurants establishments near Maokong Gondola station that it's pretty tough figure out which one to walk into. Cat got nothing is by far my favorite. It's one of the few places up the mountain where you are fully outside. This is great if you're coming via scooter or by bike since you can park it right across the street from the cafe, but do be warned, car parking near the gondola is near impossible! All three times I've went, I have ordered the latte and the waffle. Both awesome. A little on the expensive side (120NT) for a hot latte, but you get plenty of coffee for the money. The waffle I can say I've had better, but definitely goes very well with my coffee. I will say it cools down way too fast for my liking. What's great is there's no time limit! First time we went we were there for about 30 mins. The second and third time we were there for almost an hour and none of the employees came over ans asked us to leave (it also doesn't say anything on their menu). If there's no seating on the street level, no worries, behind the street level seating, on the "second floor" there's more seating. Maybe a better view? The main reason for the 5 star review is that the location is awesome. You get a great view and if you're here on a bike or scooter because it's so convenient to just park it right near the entrance and sip on that coffee and/or snacks. It also doesn't get too too much foot traffic because it's quite a distance from the gondola station, not many people are willing to walk that far!

This is a place to escape Taipei heat and enjoy mountain view. There are 2 ways to get here, by bus which is cheaper or taking cable car from Zoo station. The cable car is relatively cheap comparing with others like HK. I highly recommend you take the cable car with clear glass floor when you come up and then ride the bus when you are going down. There are many tea and food vendors along the walking trail. I especially like this road side coffee shop. It serves very good coffee and tea. We ordered green tea smoothies and ice mocha. It was so good in a hot day. Besides it is the best location to take pictures with Taipei downtown in the back drop.

The view makes up for the slightly bad coffee. I was tired from hiking along Maokong and lo and behold I see a cafe with al fresco dining. All I wanted was to stop, drink coffee, and smoke. That I did. Enjoy my coffee, not so much. I dint see any cats either
