Grab a table and a menu + marker on the side table at the entrance. Look at the number on your table and write it down on the top right. Check what you want to order and then drop the paper off on the table next to the woman dishing out porridge. She’ll drop off your food and then pay after you eat.

Had the “comprehensive fish maw” bowl (Google translate) and it was great. Huge amount of fish and oysters with a light broth. This place was popping off when I went there, but well worth fumbling through the crowd to get a great breakfast.

We ate here twice because it’s THAT good! We even skipped our hotel breakfast so that we could eat it a second time.

Tried the fish skin porridge, which still came with a fair bit of meat, and also the fish belly and oyster porridge. Both were really really yummy. The fish was completely deboned and not at all fishy. Oysters were also very fresh. It might look simple but I think this qualifies as one of the best meals I had in Tainan.

Milkfish porridge is best served in this small breakfast restaurant. It continues to serve until porridge out of stock. A lot of morning transient traffic plus irregular business hours which are based on lunar calendar to be minded if you decide to give a try. Otherwise, a very tasty, typical Tainan breakfast eating style you don’t want to miss.

I had ordered Milkfish Porridge and Braised Pork Belly over Rice. Recommended combination.
