I visited MOCA Bangkok with my family for a relaxed day out at an art gallery. It is a little far from the city centre but well worth it if you can fit it into your itinerary. There’s a very generous (60%) discount for local and international students as well.

The collection includes sculptures, paintings and photographs by Thai and international artists, with each floor featuring a unique theme. I particularly enjoyed the exhibition of Thawan Duchanee’s works, the western-themed “Richard Green” room on the 5th floor, and the mask collection (among others!). The exhibition did a great job showcasing the common heritage of Indian and Southeast Asian art.

I was also impressed by the attention to detail. Even the chairs have unique and charming designs.

The collection includes many *sensual* depictions of women’s bodies; if this makes you uncomfortable, please be advised.

Overall, I had a great time at MOCA and would recommend visiting, especially if you are a student here in Bangkok.

Would recommend a visit here to spend a few hours to discover some fantastic Thai artists. Spread across multiple floors, I spent about 4 hours here taking in some very interesting art by some well-known international names and some wonderful Thai artists I discovered. There’s a cafe and a shop on the ground floor as well. The only thing I didn’t like was that they allow influencers and others to do photo shoots here and it interrupts the viewing experience, with one social media influencer even leaning on and sitting on the installations. The guards don’t seem to bother with this, which is so surprising compared to museums anywhere else in the world.

A very nice place with incredible art collection! Even though the museum is pretty far from my place, it’s really worth a visit. It also has discounts for students. You just need to show your id cards. A must visit place for art and design students like me. The immense structure of the building and a surrealistic sculpture on the front make the museum really appealing. The museum showcases mostly works from Thai artists(ranging from old traditional art to modern ) with some western artists sections also included. The museum consists of 5 floors, each with its own theme. It would be better if you can give a whole day to visit because there are a lot of things to see. I also noticed that it has a lot of wonderful surrealism paintings with jaw dropping craftsmanship. 100% highly recommend !

impressive Thai contemporary artworks! each room tells very rich & unique stories. i was in awe by how vibrant and deep the paintings are. absolutely recommend this visit to art-lovers and museum goers! 🖼️🎨🎭

my most favorite artwork is The Three Kingdoms (Heaven, Middle Earth, and Hell) by Sompop Budtarad. the paintings themselves are stunningly massive with meaningful philosophies.

i paid 300 THB for the ticket admission and it was well worth it!

the museum itself is clean & comfortable, making the art-viewing experience even better.

the merchandise store also sells plenty of interesting and cute items that i couldn’t help but spend a lot of money over there 😂

This is a wonderful exhibition and my top recommendation for friends looking to explore Bangkok.

The museum showcases many collections by Thailand’s national artists, featuring themed events and artist collaborations. The space is large, spanning five floors (don’t worry, there’s an escalator), and it’s beautifully laid out, allowing plenty of spots for photos and social media posts.

The museum is conveniently located near a BTS station and close to a 7-Eleven. There’s also a coffee shop and a souvenir store on the ground floor with reasonably priced options, so no need to worry if you get hungry—you may end up spending half a day here!

I had an amazing time, far exceeding my expectations.
