We enjoyed a nice meal at this family restaurant. It was quite busy and had quick turnover.

We ordered a few dishes to share. The portion sizes are small so it would be good to order more than one dish per person.

Crab paste: I found the crab paste tasting a bit heavy on shrimp paste to my liking.

Chicken curry wrapped in banana leaf: this dish was flavourful but unfortunately was mostly chicken bone heavy.

Steamed egg with ant egg: I didn't like the taste of this dish, and the ant eggs gave a popping candy like explosion. Ant egg may be better in a stir fry or soup which they had run out.

Famous northern food restaurant in Chiang Mai, awarded by Michelin BIB Gourmand for 5 consecutive years from 2020 to 2024. Foods are good taste and well cooked. While atmosphere in the restaurant is a bit shabby (my table was in open air shelter), while it looks like those air-conditioned glasshouses might be a better choice to dine in. There are plenty parking spaces, both in front and inside the restaurant.

I personally was disappointed and did not even finish food and left but doesnot mean the food is bad. Food is fine specially for non spicy liking people. I expected more that's why felt disappointed. Food is well above average but not for spice lovers.
I also realized that Michelin guide and my taste doesnot match I have been disappointed several times by their recommendations .
Try it if you are in the area. Be sure to ask for extra extra spicy if you like spices. Although it was bad experience for me doesnot mean it will be bad for you. Go ahead and try if you are nearby.

there's no doubt it's fully authentic country northern food. if you want to try the tough stuff- all different ant egg dishes, snails, fermented pork, etc. this is the spot. the michelin recommended beef slices were as dry as shingles, the ant egg salad was quite good, classic flavor, they have large glass bottles of beer. service is good, seating is outdoors with some mosquitoes. low prices.

Very nice local food and not too expensive! All local people here and no tourists. This is a Michellen recommended restaurant, and I really like the food and service here. I would recommend people to try the food in this restaurant.
