The place is authentic, and you feel like home. Excellent service. On food, I am straggling with the fifth star.
Most of the plates were great, served as a sort of tapas, and we had more than 10 different plates.
However, I do not recall a memorable one.
When I go back to Bangkok, will surely visit again, hoping to find some gorgeous plates.

I will start by saying that my wife and I love the vision and mission of Bo.lan. The experience itself is quite fun and the service is exceptional so nothing should change there. That said, the food on this seasonal tasting menu (Bo lan feast) was hit or miss. There were several dishes that were exceptional where if I only had that one dish coming to the restaurant, I would want to come back again (Southern style curry of “Tankun chicken & Phang Gna Bay” banana prawns with cashewnut), but there were other dishes that I would never want to have in my life again (Isan style salad of deep-fried grey mullet with toasted rice and the sticky rice pudding with corn dessert). I do think it’s awesome that each dish is so vastly different than the other so it lets you try different things in the same sitting. Oh and it’s a LOT of food. Just a note that some of the food is quite spicy (especially in the amuse bouches but they change regularly I’m sure), so if you’re sensitive to that stuff be aware and don’t complain when it is (I personally love that it’s spicy because I don’t want them to change how the food should be, just be aware). Overall, would we pay the price we did for this same exact meal? Firm no. Would we consider it for a completely different tasting menu, probably. It’s a conflicting review because we love Bo and Dylan’s vision, but only loved half the food we paid for. Happy to support the local farmers and staff though!

Bo.lan is a charming restaurant in Bangkok nested in a traditional Thai house that serves delicious Thai dishes with excellent wine pairings. The food is a perfect blend of traditional Thai flavors using fresh, locally sourced ingredients. The hosts, Bo and Dylan, passionate about their craft, are incredibly warm and make you feel right at home. One of our favorite restaurants ❤️

Arrive hungry for this feast. The Thai restaurant featured on Chef's table was an amazing and imaginative $US200pp 12-course tasting menu set in a dark interior. It was such a huge meal we had to leave half of it behind, which was heartbreaking. The chef trained abroad, married an American, and returned to resurrect ancient recipes of traditional cuisine using organic local products sustainably. The meal begins with a visit to the incredibly clean kitchen for a spoonful of rice types with roasted coconut and palm sugar.  The 6 amuse-bouche openers were really beautiful and unusual. The mains came all together and were spicy, intense flavors. Standouts were a crispy fish curry and a seafood coconut curry where the shrimp was unusually tender and meaty. A palate cleanser 1/2 teaspoon of peanut ice cream was so intensely flavored we wouldn't have wanted more than that tiny morsel. They take you to a separate lounge for dessert, trying to upsell you with liqueurs. The desserts were a smoke-infused popcorn granola followed by a beautiful array of postage-stamp-size molded jelly fruits and intense chocolate cubes, accompanied by a tea with lavender, bergamot, chrysanthemum and honey.

Forget what you know about Thai food. Bo.lan just opened a new world of flavours and appreciation to this amazing culture. We enjoy every bite, every smile, every detail of the decoration. Chef Bo was super kind and spoke with us a lot, and also served the first dish to us inside the kitchen. We loved every minute there. The waiters are super kind and nice as well.

As a Brazilian, I loved the concept of bringing all main courses at the same time. This is how we do at home. This is comfort food!
