I will never forget the experience I had here. Although the visit started off as a regular one, with the area under renovation and most places closed, something extraordinary happened. A man approached a hanging stone/steel plate and began rubbing it, creating a mesmerizing, soothing sound that filled the air. After he left, we tried for ages to recreate that soul-touching sound, but we couldn’t. It was truly a one-of-a-kind experience.

As for the place itself, it offers a stunning top view and is surrounded by playful monkeys. The Buddha area is vast and serene, but it’s in need of renovation and reopening soon to restore its charm.

The Big Buddha in Phuket is an impressive and serene landmark, offering breathtaking views and a sense of peace. The sheer size and craftsmanship of the statue are truly awe-inspiring. Unfortunately, during our visit, the main area was closed due to the recent accident, which was disappointing.

However, we could still see the side of the statue, which gave us a glimpse of its grandeur. Despite the closure, the surrounding area was worth exploring, with a peaceful atmosphere and some nice photo opportunities.

It’s a must-visit when fully accessible, but even now, it’s still a memorable experience. Hopefully, it reopens soon!

We went to big Buddha statue to worship. Beautiful view point and no entrance charge was applied. Beautiful place still under renovation. Beautiful place to start with. View outside is amazing. Since the renovations are going on you are allowed to go up with your slippers but the dress code need to be maintained.

For this being a free destination (and even if it wasn't) it's well worth the trip up the mountain! We took a bolt all the way up which the road was very windy, so if you get car sick, be cautious.

Once we got up there the statue and surrounding scenery was just gorgeous. The Big Buddha is SO BIG! lots of photo opportunities but everyone else there is doing the same. Locals and foreigners alike were quite nice. If you're lucky you'll get to see some monkeys roaming the grounds or the nearby trees with great viewpoints of different watches and islands around.

The only drawback is making sure you have a way down before they close otherwise you might get dinged a couple extra baht. Just hop into one of the red trucks and you'll be fine.

Nice place, good view over the island and Phuket town. More of a tourist attraction than a spiritual place though.
Go in the morning, as the sun will be behind Buddha after noon.
They were renovating the inside when we were there, so we couldn’t go in.
Stalls for snacks and drinks but no restaurants. Better go for toilet before or after.
