My recent visit to this beautiful island was nothing short of enchanting. As soon as you step off the ferry, you're greeted by the charming atmosphere of the quaint streets lined with historic wooden houses and lush greenery. The absence of cars adds to the island’s serene vibe, allowing visitors to truly unwind and soak in the surroundings.

One of the highlights of my visit was renting a bicycle to explore the scenic paths that wind through the island. The cycling experience was refreshing, and I found myself captivated by the stunning views of the sea and the surrounding islands. As I pedaled through the pine forests and past inviting cafes, I stumbled upon picturesque spots perfect for photo opportunities. Don’t miss the opportunity to visit the historic Aya Yorgi Church located atop a hill; the hike is invigorating, and the panoramic views from the top are absolutely worth it.

The food on Büyükada is another standout feature. I enjoyed a lovely meal at a seaside restaurant where I savored freshly caught fish and local appetizers. It’s a wonderful spot! 🏕

I’m not sure if it’s actually allowed to camp there but we have found this place at night and only later realized that it was just the perfect place to camp and to swim. The sky is that clear so you can see the light from the plane as the car’s light which is totally impressive. Very peaceful, very beautiful, a fantastic smell of pine trees, clear water and… well, quite a lot of rubbish for such a small area which I invite you to pick up even though it wasn’t you who left it. 🙌🏻

At least that’s what Antoine de Saint-Exupéry taught us in “The little prince”:  “When you've finished washing and dressing each morning, you must tend your planet.”

Amazing landscape and place IF ONLY it wasn't so terribly dirty and full of trash. It is really a shame. Been here in February, climbed over the fence and walked/climbed down to the beach. Amazing place, but as said, full of trash and a few death animals
