My wife and I spent 2 nights in the hotel. The overall experience was quite pleasant, and the staff very attentive and supportive. We had made the reservation and the payment through Vio.com, and we had to pay a deposit the moment we checked in.
When we checked out, the reception guy informed us that everything was fine, and we left. The day after, I noticed a charge on my credit card - the same I used to pay the deposit - from the hotel of nearly the same amount that I had paid already when I made the reservation! That’s really unacceptable, not only for charging twice, but also for proceeding with a payment without notifying us and, of course, without giving a receipt, especially coming from such a high-end hotel.

I stayed at Shangri-La Istanbul, and I was disappointed. My first impression was negative—the waitress and the reception staff at the restaurant were not very welcoming. The waitress also made mistakes with my order, and even when I asked for chili sauce, they never brought it. The front of the hotel was not impressive, making it difficult to take nice photos.

Additionally, they made multiple mistakes while taking orders, which did not meet my expectations at all. For the price of the hotel, I expected much better service—it is expensive, but the quality does not match the price.

The breakfast experience was also disappointing. They did not refill the hot food, and when I went down for breakfast around 10 AM, most of the food was already finished. Since breakfast ends at 11 AM, there was still time for a refill, especially as more customers were still arriving.

Luxurious hotel in a really convenient location next to water ferry terminal.   Underground health complex with a great swimming pool, where you are often the only swimmer.   And then there are the breakfasts which are truly sumptuous, with every imaginable offering, and the some that you would never have imagined too.   Highly recommend for a relaxing and pampered stay in wonderful Istanbul.

While the hotel boasts an impressive location and beautiful amenities, I found that the prices were quite high compared to the level of service provided. Unfortunately, the service did not meet my expectations given the premium rate.

A particular point of concern was the billing process. I recommend thoroughly reviewing all charges, as I noticed fees for services that I did not request. Despite raising these issues, I found it challenging to receive a satisfactory response. The main office in China referred me back to the branch, which made it difficult to resolve my concerns.

Overall, I believe there is significant room for improvement in both service and transparency regarding charges. I hope my feedback will encourage the hotel to enhance guest experiences in the future.

From the moment you receive a warm welcome at the door from Mr. Sarkan, followed by exceptional service at the reception, you’ll know you’re in the best place in Istanbul.

The rooms are spacious, quiet, and cleaned twice a day.

I highly recommend the restaurant “Shang Palace” for its delicious food. Tip: order the green tea—it’s served in the traditional way with an entertaining presentation.
