PLEASE AVOID THIS PLACE AT ALL COST!!!!!

Me and my friend have visited Istanbul for 5 days, yesterday we was site seeing and wanted to go for a drink, when we was approached by 2 men 1 was called HAKAN, 2 guys were apparently from Cyprus on business in Istanbul. They took us to a pub paid for a drink and paid for a taxi to the club in question. We ordered a bottle of whiskey and after that the waiters just kept on bringing extra and extra, without even asking us. 20 minutes later they brought 4 girls that we had to pay for their drinks without even knowing, 2000.lira for 1 drink. Please avoid, HAKAN is definitely working for the club and it’s all a big setup. The total bill came up to 44k lira which we obviously didn’t pay we paid for what we asked for, things could have looked a lot different if we left it late. The bar staff and HAKANS friend was very aggressive.

I had a fantastic time at Playshow in Istanbul! The vibe is electric, with great music and a stylish atmosphere. The drinks were amazing, and the staff was super friendly. It's the perfect place for a fun night out with friends. I'll definitely be back!

Beware of Tourist Scam in this place – Overpriced Drinks & Pressure Tactics

I want to warn fellow travelers about a scam happening in Play Night Club Show. A friendly older man (around his 60s, Arabic accent) approached me in Hazerfen Ahmet Çelebi İskelesi Dockland , offering to show me the city and recommend good places to visit. He seemed genuinely nice at first, but it was all a setup.

He led me to a bar, where suddenly two women joined us, acting very friendly. I only ordered a juice, but within minutes, the man and the women had ordered multiple drinks each. When I decided to leave after about 15 minutes, I was shocked to receive a bill for 25,400 liras (approx. USD 700+). The breakdown? The two women each had three drinks, the man had two whiskeys, and I had a juice—plus a kebab that I just ordered.

I felt trapped as they pressured me to pay. They first claimed I owed 12,400 liras (USD 348) as my share. When I told them I only had $100 in cash and no credit cards, they called the old man back, pretending they didn’t know him, and insisted I pay with Apple Pay or a credit card. The situation got tense when the manager got angry at me, but after some time, they let me go after taking all the cash I had.

This is a well-coordinated scam targeting tourists. Please avoid anyone who randomly offers to show you around or take you to a bar. If you feel pressured, walk away immediately. Don’t let them trap you like they did to me. Stay safe!

Beware of scam at Galata Tower. I was approached by two guys as I was entering a souvenir shop asking for a lighter. Said I didn’t have one, basically they were like oh dang, good for not smoking though. Talked about how they were also here vacation and asked if I wanted to go to a lounge bar (not knowing that a lounge bar in Istanbul is a gentlemen’s club in the US.) I said I’ll split the taxi they said no we will pay it. Sat at a booth, ordered raki some I’d never had it yet, third day in Turkey. Then two Russian girl sat at our table, I was uncomfortable and said I needed to leave the guy said okay let’s go split the bill and it was almost 2000$ USD, thankfully my Amex denied it as fraud. They wouldn’t take that so I said here’s all the cash I have which was like 600 lira. They got the boss, they tried to pull me into the office and I said no I’m staying right here that they can bring the boss here. The boss, the guy I came with, and the bartender kept trying to get me to use Apple Pay, told them no and that it declined at my previous bar, which it didn’t actually. They finally just told me to leave, but I felt uncomfortable walking back to my hotel because the “cousin” of the guy that invited me and the security guard followed me out. I even left my jacket at the booth because I didn’t want to stay in there any longer. Biggest, scariest “scam” in Istanbul. Honestly made me contemplate if I ever wanted to come back to Istanbul even though I love the food and culture outside of that

Mehmet is the best host I’ve ever had… an amazing experience. Even when another patron was out of line they made me feel so comfortable and made me want to enjoy the full night! Glad I did! Mehmet is great!
