A wonderful opportunity to view Turkish art and artists spanning over 100+ years. There is almost too much to see in one visit, as I spent many hours taking in as much as possible.
The museum is fascinating architecturally too and provides an interesting juxtaposition to the art.
I would recommend a visit to the Istanbul Museum of Painting and Sculpture, it feels so vital and alive to see such important works while in Turkey.

Wonderful building that is elegantly designed to show art. If anything I dislike modern museums in the West that emphasize the building (by Star-architects)to the detriment of showing the collection. I was underwhelmed by this collection, as a lot of the works was derivative of Western European art.  However, it is worthwhile to see whats there and be educated to Turkish modern art history.

Interesting survey of 100+ years of Turkish art in an ultra-modern building. A lot more painting than sculpture, a bit of a mixed bag in terms of quality. Historical info in each room helps understand the context. I appreciated the layout, which is designed for people with no sense of direction like me! Looks quite new, I visited on a Saturday afternoon and the whole place was satisfyingly quiet.

I really loved this art museum. It is very well organized and easy to walk around. The museum is also very informative in explaining the art collections in every hall. In my opinion, it is one of the best art museums I’ve seen so far in Istanbul.

It is one of the most important museums in Istanbul. It is among the top 5 museums of sculpture and painting. Inside, you can see local and foreign paintings and sculptures of every period, in all kinds of categories. There are 2 different exhibitions on the top floor. Some of Osman Hamdi Bey's most important works are here, which are definitely worth seeing. In the next room there are quality temporary exhibitions. It is definitely one of the places to visit and see.
