I recently visited Club Teykön and, unfortunately, I left feeling very disappointed. As a gay club, I expected an atmosphere of inclusivity and acceptance. However, I was surprised to be told that my outfit was “too feminine” and that I could be mistaken for a trans person? Excuse me?

As an international non-binary model from Germany, I find it disturbing to be discriminated against and gendered in such a way, especially given that I was simply expressing my personal style. It was particularly ironic to hear this from someone in ripped jeans and a hoodie while I was wearing an Armani Couture skirt, with very demure style.

This experience reflects a troubling lack of education, ignorance, and tolerance that is unfortunately prevalent. I love Turkey and its people, but it’s concerning how such attitudes can affect the perception of the country as a welcoming place.

I understand that few trans individuals are perhaps interacting inappropriately with the guests, however you can’t put everyone in the same basket and to tell me if we let you in we have to let everybody in🙈. Gay Men are welcome, normal women also ok… and this is 2024???

Everyone deserves to be treated with respect, regardless of their appearance or identity. It is essential for venues like Teykön to foster an environment where all guests feel welcome and appreciated. I hope this feedback is taken into consideration for the future.

We paid 550 TL for entrance and 100 TL for the cloackroom. So we spent 18 euro per person just to enter to the club. Entrance fee included one alcoholic drink. Just a bottle of water was 200 TL (6 euro) inside 😡 This is robbery!

Stuff was extremely rude. I even saw a body guard pushing and hitting a client to open the way for dancers. The point is to entertain your clients, not your shitty shows. Most of the male dancers were talentless, they were just relying on their bodies.

There are more inclusive and welcoming queer clubs in Istanbul like Mecra and Bigudi. Please don't spend your money for that place. They know just taking money of queer people but have no idea about queer culture!

Mixed age range of men, from 20s-50s on a Friday night. Music ranged from American pop/hip hop dance music to Turkish dance music. Venue is a bit on the smaller side for a nightclub. My partner and I paid about 1300 lira for both of us, plus 200 lira to check our coats. We did not buy any drinks so can’t give a price on that.

I visited this place and tried to give it the benefit of the doubt despite the largely negative reviews.   Unfortunately, all I can say is it’s a very sad place.   For a city of 16 million people, this place should be packed every night.  Instead, it is mostly empty -  I think I counted about 22 people at around 12:30 am.   The management is directly to blame.  The bartenders and doormen were actually quite friendly, but the management has made a policy where foreigners and tourists are charged 350 TL at the door while Turks enter for free.   Ive been  to many cities and many countries and I’ve never heard of a club admission fee for foreigners only.   A 0,33 cc beer was 310 TL ( 9 euro) -  this is more expensive than almost any country in North America and Europe.   I feel bad for the employees who have to work at this establishment-  most people were just drinking bottled water as that’s all they could afford.   The employees, the  local Turks, the city of Istanbul, and Türkiye deserves a better place than this.  With different management, this place could be world class.   Instead, it’s a sad and shameful place that only exists due to lack of any competition.   I hope a progressive local entrepreneur decides to open a club of their own to put Tekyön out of its misery.

Strongly advise tourists to avoid TEK-YÖN in Istanbul DANGEROUS..

LIKE THIS TO HELP IT GET MORE VIEWS so no one could end in likewise situations with this faul club.

I want to warn other tourists about a deeply unpleasant and frightening experience at the nightclub TEK-YÖN in Istanbul.

On December 31, 2024, they demanded an unreasonably high entrance fee BY THE OWNER HIMSELF. When I POLITLY refused to pay that amount, I was physically attacked by the club’s OWNER WITHOUT EVEN ME SAYING A WORD ”just help my hands upp and yelled ”let me be to the OWNER, including the security guards and even the owner himself. They resorted to violence without any provocation.

What made the situation worse was that the police WERE THERE AND SAW the incident but refused to assist, completely ignoring what had happened. Later, I tried to file a police report at several police stations and with the tourist police, but I was denied every time.

This is not just a safety concern for tourists but also highlights a complete lack of justice and support for visitors. I have traveled extensively, but I have never felt as vulnerable and unsafe as I did here.

I strongly advise other tourists to stay away from TEK-YÖN or any other venues where similar risks might exist. Istanbul is a wonderful city, but this experience completely ruined my trip and left me feeling helpless and unsafe.

Avoid this club at all costs if you value your safety and dignity as a tourist.
DONT VISIT AT ALL COST ESPECIALLY IF ALONE!!!!
