An exceptional experience that is well worth the money. Although I highly recommend their tasting menus, I would particularly highlight fish and seafood meals (octopus is flavorful and practically melts in your mouth) and desserts (ice-cream made of bison milk is surprisingly good). The wine tasting experience is also a pleasure, as their sommelier is well aware not only of the gustatory properties of each bottle, but also its history. Quite impressive!

We did the 7 course tasting menu. There were some weak dishes and there were some great dishes, but nothing felt memorable… and it isn’t worth the price. I would choose Aheste over them if we are ever in Istanbul again.

Also, they didn’t swap the sharing plates and utensils between each course… they swapped them every couple of courses. Not that I care but for them being a Michelin star restaurant and the price, it was surprising.

Yeni Lokanta, located just off the popular İstiklal Street, offers modernized Turkish cuisine with a creative twist. The service was excellent—attentive to every detail, from wiping crumbs to refilling water. The sommelier also gave a fantastic wine recommendation, which perfectly complemented the meal.

The appetizer courses were the highlight of the meal. The manti stood out with its beefy, umami-packed filling and delicious sauce. I also loved the morel mushroom dish, the components worked together perfectly and the capers were a great touch for a burst of flavor.

The mains were also very creative, though at times I felt like there was too much going on. The eggplant course, for example, had too many strong flavors competing on the plate. For the final main, the lamb was delicious, it was perfectly cooked and I loved the hedgehog mushrooms. Though, I would have preferred a leaner cut since all of the courses were very creamy and rich.

Finally, the desserts were ok, perhaps just not for my palate. I didn't really like the taste of the tonka-flavored rice pudding.

Overall, it was a great dinner that did a good job of highlighting traditional flavors in an elevated way. Would definitely recommend!

The 7 course menu was delicious. I just would suggest bigger portions. The portions you see on the Picture is for two People. One scampi per Person is just not enough, especially if it is that tasty:)

We had a most enjoyable dinner at Yeni Locanta. Delicious food complemented beautifully by the Turkish wine pairing provided by the charming sommelier who added greatly to our enjoyment.
