I had high expectations for Hawker Chan, but unfortunately, it fell far below the mark. The quality of the food is not even at the level of a regular food court in Malaysia. The signature chicken rice lacked the authentic taste, and they did not provide the proper chicken rice chili sauce unless specifically asked. Even then, the female cashier rudely answered my request and gave the wrong type of chili. This happened twice, showing a clear lack of training and service standards. Given the Michelin Star reputation, this was extremely disappointing. Hawker Chan should properly train their staff on how to serve chicken rice and treat customers with respect.

Finally got the chance to try this legendary Michelin star meal,And let me tell you it is definitely worth the hype. The soy sauce chicken is both juicy and tender, and the sauce itself is very flavourful. The noodles themselves were quite bland however I feel it’s meant to be bland so it doesn’t overpower the main dish. If your around Dubai mall definitely give this a try !

Allegedly they serve the world’s most affordable Michelin Star meal. (I later learned they lost their Michelin Star in 2023.)

I ordered the roasted duck w/ a side of stirfried seasonal vegetables. I paid approx. 44 AED or 11 euros.

I asked if they could debone my duck. The cashier told me they could, but I would receive less duck. I then asked if she could change my order from medium to large - because I thought I might receive a little bit more duck.

The duck itself was tasty. However, it was served lukewarm. I thought it would be hot. I also thought the skin would be crispy - which it was not.

The duck came with a huge scoop of rice, a few slices of cucumber and tomato and half a hardboiled egg. Everything was covered in soya sauce.

I was surprised to learn that the stirfried vegetables I had ordered was lettuce. I did not realise you could stirfry lettuce.

The meal was fine. I expected a little bit more from a (former) Michelin Star restaurant.

The portion sizes are reasonable, and for the price, the quality is outstanding. The noodles are also a great alternative—springy, well-seasoned, and soaking up the delicious sauce. Despite the usually long queues, service is efficient, and the food is worth the wait.

I visited both, Hawker Chan in Singapore and Dubai and I must say, obviously I‘m a big fan of this delicious Singaporean classic. Chicken rice is a traditional Singaporean dish and I visit Singapore a lot, but I have never had such a good one as from Hawker Chan.

It’s available with either rice or noodles and I tried it both but I prefer the rice myself. You also have the choice of boneless chicken or with bones. But what really does the trick is the delicious sauce! What I also like about this place is the nice, clean food court in the heart of the brand-new Chinatown inside Dubai Mall. There’s always a free table and the cleanliness is amazing. Once you ordered, you can look for your favorite spot and you‘ll be notified by a beeper, once you can pick up your freshly prepared Michelin starred dish. Enjoy!
