We had a most enjoyable dinner at Chao Ban. We asked for suggestions from the server and ordered the shrimp and pomelo salad, the pork ribs, and the squid filled with the pork. All the dishes were excellent with well-balanced flavors and offered something different to most standard menus elsewhere. It’s a small restaurant that gets filled up quickly in the evening, so booking advised. Can highly recommend this place!

This place is GOOD! I liked everything I ate, especially the caramel pork. Tons of cute shops nearby. Nice outdoor seating. It’s small so make a reservation.

I’m so happy to chance upon this eatery and chose it for my small réveillon dinner in 2024. The atmosphere is cosy, like a small town patio.

The food though, hits the spot many time over. Their signature pork ribs is a must order, with meat that melts off the bone and a sticky sauce that still makes me drool a week after. Another noteworthy dish is the thit kho (caramelised pork meat) with sauce that begs to be scraped and wraps the tender pork belly and wholesome eggs.

I got a banh chi for dessert and didn’t regret it - the soft, sweet banana effuses with each bite and the coconut ice cream complements it enough for it to be a dish that heralds an image of a tropical feast.

It was easily the best atmosphere I've experienced - lovely little garden of a typical colonial style villa. Sitting under a tree, with the view of Tay Ho hustle and bustle. Loved it.

Service - staff was incredible, helped us book and rebook a table as we changed the number of guests during the day.

Food: great flavor, traditional viet dishes with a spin, I liked the stuffed squid and fried crab rolls. Banana cake w ice cream was nice too. It's not completely traditional viet dishes, the restaurant is French owned and it shows in a very positive way.

Suggestion: book early, as they get packed at the weekend
