Absolutely disgraceful experience at Goros. I tried to enter to see my wife, and the power-tripping bouncers decided to kick me out because they thought I was stumbling. Apparently, in their expert medical opinion, that meant I was too “drunk” to enter. News flash: a slight misstep doesn’t mean someone is intoxicated

The attitude from security was beyond arrogant—condescending, rude, and completely unprofessional. They didn’t listen, didn’t care, and seemed more interested in flexing their authority than actually managing the venue properly. I’ve been to plenty of bars and clubs, and I’ve never seen a place run by such an incompetent, self-important bunch of wannabe cops.

The real kicker? Once they decide you’re “too drunk,” there’s no discussion, no reasoning with them. You’re just out, no matter how calm, coherent, or reasonable you try to be. It’s like dealing with a brick wall—except this brick wall sneers at you and enjoys ruining your night.

Avoid this place at all costs unless you enjoy being treated like garbage for no reason. Absolute joke of a venue.

I recently tried to visit Goros and was delivered with a dose of unnecessary frustration and, frankly, absurdity. I was with a group of friends, all of us excited for a night of fun. But when we arrived, we were met by a security guard who seemed more interested in his power trip than in anything resembling customer service.

Apparently, my friend, who had only sipped a drink or two, was "too drunk" to enter. Never mind the fact that he was walking perfectly fine and wasn’t slurring his words. But these security guards? They were on a mission: to enforce their own mysterious and unspoken rule that "only people we deem sober enough to enter" should be allowed in. Not even a friendly appeal could get us past them. Their judgment? Final. Their smiles? Nonexistent.

I can appreciate safety, but when your security team is more interested in practicing their "authority" than actually creating a welcoming atmosphere, something is seriously wrong. So, if you want to risk your night out being ruined by random judgments and a bunch of people who think they’re auditioning for a role in The Ultimate Fighter, by all means, give this place a shot. If not, I suggest you save your time and try somewhere that knows how to make people feel welcome... even if they’ve had one too many beers.

Goros is a trendy bar with a Japanese inspired atmosphere. The decor was gorgeous. They sell a range of drinks, which included alcoholic bubble teas, I ordered the watermelon bubble tea with vodka which was refreshing and sweet. On Friday they had $1 dumplings which was good value, the dumplings which were gyoza were yummy. The other food options such as the fries and fried cauliflower was also delicious. A really great venue for a Friday night and a short walk to central station.

The food and drinks were amazing but the DJ really sucked. Would jump from 80s song to 2010 tech songs then went to rock song. No one was able to enjoy the music and dance. Very disappointing to such awesome bar.

Had a booking for karaoke. Main area had a good atmosphere but the music was way too loud for quite a while.

The karaoke room had cool art painted on the wall but it was definitely too small for our large group (no fault of the establishment)
The song selection was fantastic, and it helped that they had it available online to view before coming in. Definitely a big plus point for that.
We mostly ordered drinks so I can't speak to the food quality, however all the drinks were delivered quickly (and finished just as quickly 🤣)

- fun music - bartenders have difficulty hearing your order - late night menu a plus - they run out f a lot of items on late night menu - dingy bathroom - can be crowded at times - bar line is def an 'every man for himself' attitude

This is one of those bars that I walked past numerous times and wrote off as being one of those places that I'll come back to when I feel like it. Well, it turned out that this place was actually quite a lot better than I expected, probably because it turned out to be a proper inner city bay as opposed to some poor excuse for a place to play pokies and drink bad beer. Mind you, when I was here it was pretty packed, and finding a seat was challenging in and of itself. Still, this place did turn out to be pretty cool.

I feel like this bar has it all. Liquor, beer, food, karaoke, and a giant Garfield. What more could you want? Not Garfield? I get it, it's kind of odd and looks like some hen/stag just left it there, and I don't know the back story but it lives there now. Quick service for beer, and you can join a members club to get a lower price.

Is it possible to be trashy, trendy, and terrific at the same time? Goros says it is. Whether you're here to get smashed and play arcade games, dance, or eat a casual dinner in a cool setting, they've got you covered. I highly recommend the chicken burger because it's spicy and different than most you'll find elsewhere. The fries have some heat, too. So your taste buds won't be bored. However wonderful the tastes are - understand this is a bar and your food comes in a basket.

I'm definitely a fan - but let this be a warning: do not come here for dinner if you're hungry. Dinner menu is laminated and doesn't seem to change. Food ain't bad at all, but it's purely izakaya style. You're here to drink; food is merely an after thought. We came here on a quiet Monday night (happy hour between 5-7pm. Bonus!). The beers were half off at $7 and house wine at $5. The food menu is a bunch of yakitori (the menu simply refers to them as 'sticks') and some small side dishes. They were delicious - yummy gyozas, tataki salmon on a bed of wakame (my favourite), cha siu bao, etc. But it really isn't enough to hit the spot and fulfill my meal quota. Maybe because I'm asian and rely heavily on rice/starch to call it a meal? Apparently on Wednesday nights they have a Tonkatsu dinner special? And for lunch it's a bunch of bento boxes. I just don't see why they couldn't extend it to regular nights! Guess we'll have to come back on a Wed.

Goros is a great Japanese Isakaya style joint. Feels like Japan when you go in, little booths, high benches and stools and interior Decorated with Japanese prints, whisky and sake signs. There's arcade games, air hockey, a pool table and a DJ. When I've been late at night, there's a dance floor happening too. The best part is the free karaoke - just make sure you book. I've done this on a nuns do of occasions and it has a great range of song choices, you can take your food and drinks in too. For the food, you can get yakitori, gyoza or Japanese inspired burgers. Not a huge range of food but it's pretty good nonetheless. I have had the gyozas many times and they're very delicious. It was a bit slow to come out. Lots of whiskeys (but quite expensive), sake and whiskey based cocktails. Cool place to eat, drink and hang out.

I've never tried the food here so this review is just about the nighttime atmosphere! Really cool place, one of the few places in Sydney where it's really easy to meet people on a night out. They have a ton of games and even karaoke! They karaoke fills up fast though, so get in early if that is what you are after. Reasonable prices and a great medium sized bar atmosphere. Try next time you are out in Surry after dinner!

Crossing the threshold of this trendy establishment made me feel instantly cooler. I wasn't, but damn what an awesome place to grab a few beverages and have a chat with some mates in a cosy bamboo-covered booth! The food was delicious, and though its a touch too expensive for my skinny uni-student wallet you can get a discount by showing your current RSA card! I'd definitely recommend checking this place and its funky vibes out!

Brilliant place for some many different purposes. The food is fun Japanese, at reasonable prices. I would suggest getting a fee dishes to share. Whiskey is always a favourite of mine, and Goro's has a fantastic selection of Japanese whiskeys (makes senses). Prices range from $8 to $120. Sadly I didn't get to try the latter, though I'm sure it's great ;) Video arcade games are also in the back section, with Time Crisis, an old time favourite of mine :) The seating area is varied and fun. There are booths and long tables, along with a private-ish, lounge area. So depending on the occasion, there an appropriate area for all. Overall, the perfect exciting and fun place to come with large, or small, group of friends where it's not crowd while also being a stone's throw away from Central Railway station, so convenient for all :)
