Tried out this cafe and it was nice! Sweet Sunrise mocktail was delicious, and the poached apple and ricotta crepes were very good. Servers were happy to help, though it did take a while for some things to arrive, but I’m happy overall! The atmosphere is lovely, and if you enjoy people-watching it is a really cool view over the balcony.

Dymocks Cafe is a hidden gem in the heart of the CBD. Despite being nestled inside a bookstore, the atmosphere is surprisingly relaxed, with minimal and tolerable noise levels, making it a great spot to unwind. Their staff is absolutely friendly and welcoming, adding to the overall positive experience.

What really sets this cafe apart is the diverse menu—far beyond the typical coffee and pastries you’d expect. They offer a fantastic selection, including dumplings, soups, shakshoukas, and more. My ultimate favorites are the Dymocks club sandwich and their refreshing mango, yoghurt, honey, and ice smoothie.

It’s a reasonably priced go-to lunch spot with a unique vibe that’s perfect for a quick escape or a casual catch-up. Highly recommend!

There were about three groups of guests in front of me when I arrived, and we waited together at the entrance for about 15 minutes - when there were empty seats and people kept leaving and new seats became available. Finally, after waiting about 25 minutes, I was given a table, which had been empty since my arrival.😅
On the way to the table, I passed many empty tables, only a few of which were reserved. Why do guests have to stand at the door for such a long time when there is clearly a place? I don't understand. Even if it's too busy, at least let's sit and wait.
After sitting down, everything finally got better, the service attitude was not abnormal, the food was served relatively quickly, and the taste was not bad.
I observed that during my meal, the situation of empty seats but not letting guests in continued, and the table next to me remained empty for about an hour of the meal, but no guests were invited in.
All in all, the confusing waiting time kept me from coming back, even though they served decent food.

Good place to stop at after hours of browsing the bookstore below. Expect a wait especially during lunch peak hour. Lots of variety on the menu - only downside is that it’s really quite pricey although that is to be expected.

My favourite place for quiet solo lunch when in Sydney. The food is always delicious, Russian cuisine selection pretty awesome and borscht is my favourite. Great atmosphere for some relaxing read. They can improve on customer service, a friendly smile and less awkward waiting time at the entry would be a definite improvement.
