Amazing building with amazing staffs. I’ve been here almost every weekend, visiting Circular Quay and enjoying leisure activities. This place welcomes tourists from all backgrounds and cultures, and I wondered if there could be a quiet room for visitors to pause for a short prayer. I asked around but couldn’t find one. My suggestion is to provide a small space for this purpose. Thank you.

Nearly perfect place for quite zone
İt has some facilities...
One level for calming, reading, sitting and art...
Two levels has library...
Not a professional and old style library, but fair enough.
And one level is a restaurant.

Quiet place outside with quaint tables and chairs to rest or people watch. Inside is a bit dim and we couldn't see a much, no staff to tell us where to go and no one in the information to help us. It was a Friday when we went there.

Truly magnificent building & always “worth a wander through” whenever you’re in Circular Quay. I’ve lived in Sydney 3 decades & I still “pop in” when I’m nearby - it’s a perpetual “beautiful place to be in”.

Such an iconic building in the heart of Circular Quay. Definitely go inside and see the glass floor with a replica of Sydney underneath. So amazing! Love playing eye spy with the kids here. Also, this is a flagship building of Vivid with it fully lit up in story, sound and colour.

Has access for wheelchairs so I wanted to rate it higher. The service was slow. Our wine was nice. The lamb was nice but the scallops were burned. My trout was generous and pretty. Expensive but okish.

Not for Italians. Pizza is like drinking olive oil. I didn't expect real Pizza, but drinking 1litre of olive oil is too much. We had Pizza at 13:00, now at 20:34 I still feel it in my stomach. I ordered a 'margherita', nothing heavy. Service was slow, they probably forgot our order and it took forever, even though it wasn't busy at all. Lastly, glasses didn't seem really clean. Sconsigliato.

5-6 years ago, I loved this place. They had mystery pizza where you get surprised by the toppings when it arrived. Sydney's food scene got better and competition got fiercer, and I'm sad to see that Young Alfred doesn't keep up. The food was mediocre. Pizza base didn't look like it was made there and the pasta came from a box. I'm not against pasta that comes in a box, I love them but not this night it wasn't great. Service wasn't great. The wait staff had fun of their own while diners wait 5-10 mins each time they need something. It wasn't even that busy. I don't think I will be back.

Young Alfred has a lot going for it... great food, great crowd and great location. In the warmer months for an after work apertif location that can easily transition into a tasty meal when the time comes, there are few places better suited. Sit outside, watch the hustle of circular quay and gobble up the scrumptious offerings that Young Alfred has on the menu. When you're finished, be sure to walk into the foyer of Customs House and check out the scale model of Sydney city located in the floor - you stand over it like a glass bottom boat!

Bruschetta was phenomenal!! It was in no way traditional either! It was two chunky slices of fresh sourdough toast, topped generously with a pesto ricotta and a slice of buffalo mozzarella. The flavors melt in the mouth. And on the side was a small salad of arugula (rocket lettuce) and cherry tomatoes with a light and sweet citrus-flavored dressing. Perfection! We didn't stay for dinner, but I'd be willing to bet this chef has some wonderful culinary creations up his/her sleeve.

3 stars because the food was great but the service was worse than awful! It started with the head waiter great in us with "are you from Fiji" (no, we're from Brisbane - we just want some aircon, wine and good food), it continued with our waitress not mowing anything about the food on the menu and finished with having to ask for salt, pepper, steak knives, water, ice bucket for wine... And the lost goes on and on and on. On a positive note, everyone enjoyed their food and wine. Coffee and dessert went down a great also!

Good at accommodating groups and close to the quay, Young Alfred serves up consistently good food. The service; however, can be pretty patchy. YA is also of the few places around that sell red Peroni in the bottle. A safe purchase when you're out because you know they're not going to try to pawn off that Australian brewed stuff. Yes, there's a difference. Unfortunately, the menu is a bit limited for lunch options. You'll find pizzas and pastas with a fish and a salad or two thrown into the mix. They also offer lamb and steak mains for around $28, but I just can't give that level of commitment at lunch time. A sandwich of some sorts might pique my interest, but there's none to be found here. While the food is always really tasty, it leaves me wanting to be amazed. The TNT pizza (meat with a barely detectable chili jam) is my go to these days, but over the visits I've also sampled various tasty pastas (Orecchiette with meat ragu is a good choice). The rocket and parm salad is always a star side dish. They used to do a "mystery" pizza that changed daily and you never knew what was in it until it landed in front of you. I liked that idea, and in the few times I ordered it I was never disappointed.

They were great here. I had the squid ink linguine and it was absolutely amazing. We also had a member of our group with food allergies which they were able to work with, letting the kitchen know and pointing us to the best items for her. The service was great with the food coming out in a timely manner. An overall wonderful experience with them.

Steak, salads and pizza were tasty, but very salty, too much so for some in our group. The steak was well overdone, when asked for rare it came out pinkish gray (medium to medium well). Was still enjoyable, but for a $30 steak the experience was quite overpriced. Our waitress seems to have gone on break and we never saw here after the food was served; had to pay at the bar because nobody was around. Overall the food and wine is fine but for this much money is way overpriced. There are plenty of other options around that are better value.

Young Alfred is located in one of the nicest areas of Sydney and a gateway for national and international tourists. It is located right beside the highly acclaimed Quay Bar and it is easy to see why one is busier than the other. Unfortunately like so many others who have taken time to share their experience of this establishment on here, mine is a story of poor service. I had just finished work and it was my second to last day before Christmas. It is a time where it is good to socialise with work colleges and build on bonds created over the year. This was our plan and we would usually have visited Quay Bar as we are located at the building behind Quay Bar and Young Alfred. We had ordered a few beers and cocktails and being responsible decided to order some food to share among those at the table. When I approached the bar I requested if there they had any Mezze or Antipasto platters. The server at the bar (who later advised his name was Jack) asked me to repeat myself and I did so multiple times. He said "are you speaking French to me" to which I explained the two words origins were Greek and Italian however widely used in Australia. His retort was that "We speak English here" (just to be clear I am a white European) and then turned around. I asked him to come back and apologises as I felt he was being very rude and he started yelling at me. I calmly asked for his name and the name of his manger and left as soon as my colleges had finished their drinks. I would certainly not recommend visiting Young Alfred and further more suggest that if the management takes the time to read these reviews they look at their staffs customer service training. GREAST NEWS: the best thing is you don't have to worry. Quay Bar is next door and they are excellent!
