Awesome Hotel with Great Vibes

Had a great stay — Mitchell and Raul were amazing! The free drinks every day between 5 and 6 is such a cool Kimpton brand standard. Rooms are minimalist and stylish, really loved the vibe. Food was decent overall, but the club sandwich could use some work — the bread’s a bit too thin and no egg, which made it feel a bit average. Other than that, an awesome hotel experience.

No desk in room which made working a little difficult but beautiful hotel using a interesting historical public works building. Very nice breakfast menu. Rooms very comfortable with quality furnishings and comfortable bed. A little bit of a walk but still a convenient location, plenty of food options nearby

This hotel could be fabulous - the Art Deco décor is stunning. Our room was lovely but not very clean.  Staff are fabulous and very helpful.  Breakfast is okay but nothing special.
The music in the main lounge and dining room is unbearably loud which is a shame as the ambiance could be so cool with some 20's jazz or swing, maybe a piano player in the evenings.  We would have spent more time (and money!) here if we'd been able to hear ourselves think.  I'm sure the loud music puts a lot of potentially valuable customers off.  Such a shame.

It’s rare that I genuinely like a hotel, but this one is exceptionally well managed.

I arrived late on a Thursday night and was warmly welcomed by Charles at the front desk. His professionalism, friendliness, and efficiency made for a great first impression.

The hotel itself is stunning, with a beautiful historic charm and immaculate upkeep. My room was spotless and incredibly comfortable—I had the best sleep I’ve had in a long time.

The only minor downside was the limited room service menu, but the food arrived quickly and was perfectly fine. One thing that stood out was the housekeeping service—I accidentally left the Do Not Disturb sign on and only called at 4:30 PM to have my room cleaned. Despite the late request, they handled it without issue and left the room in perfect condition.

The rooftop pool on the 7th floor was a great touch, and the bar on the same level had a lively atmosphere.

Overall, well done to the staff and management—this is a fantastic hotel, and I highly recommend it.

After doing countless hours of research, my better half choose this hotel and I could be more happy that she did. From the moment we checked in, we were greeted by friendly faces and made us feel welcomed. And after a 10 hour flight and having to wait for our car service it was greatly appreciated. They offered to take our bags to our room which was nice too. The hotel is stunning as from the front it looked small as the elevators to the rooms is right there to the right when you enter but when you turn to the left where check in is, it opens up to grandeur. It felt like we were in a movie. Maybe because I watched Crazy Rich Asians on the plane. Haha but it is really nice and open. There was also a restaurant that we didn't have a chance to eat at but maybe when we come back from Melbourne. After we checked in and went to our room, the bellman was telling us things about the hotel. I swear he looks like the guy on the hotel page on the TV. In fact I'm sure of it. He is a wealth of knowledge and very friendly. They have a rooftop bar that has a nice view of the city. The pool is more like. Lap pool type which is fine by us. You can grab towels over there as well. So grab a drink, watch the sunset and soak it all in. The rooms are big. The air-conditioning works really well. There is no drips or slow draining water. We had a walk in shower and it was big. So big you could throw a small party in it. The beds were comfortable and the room was clean and we didn't hear any street noise at all either. Only downer but might have been good is that our windows were frosted so we couldn't see out. But hey who cares as people can't see in either. You know how most hotels use the cheapest soaps, shampoo and conditioners? I know you do. This hotel has and I can't believe I'm writing about it but they use really good stuff here. The soap doesn't dry your hands out and the shampoo and conditioner is awesome. They even have slippers and bathrobes. There is a mini fridge and safe which we used. The hotel is a short 8-10 minute walk to Central Rail Station. Very nice and convenient place, easily 5 stars.

I was pleasantly surprised at how nice this hotel was, given that I'd booked it on the Chase travelers website with points and had no idea what it actually cost. I'd walked past the entrance prior to checking in but didn't pay it any notice as it is hidden under construction awning. However, do not judge a book by its cover, because the lobby and foyer is gorgeous and expansive. I also didn't realize how popular the rooftop bar of this hotel (Level 7) was! I wish I had known sooner, because I would have definitely spent more time checking out the hotel amenities rather than napping in my room. My room was decent sized. The person who checked me in claimed that they had upgraded me to a larger room..not sure how much smaller the rooms could get to be honest. There was a fancy nespresso machine in the room along with the usual amenities, and some pretty nice toiletries. My only gripe was that my toilet was literally pulling the wall down with it - I'm pretty sure a heavier person will take it down with them one day.. The gym is tiny and in the basement, but there is a fridge full of water bottles for patrons.

First time to Level Seven, the Champagne pool bar on the 7th floor outdoor terrace. What a first class place! As a cool Tuesday night, not much of a crowd, but I expect as the weather warms this is the place to see and be seen as the weekend rolls around. Bar hosts Adam and Juan were perfect gentlemen, talented bartenders and gracious hosts. Nice selection of wines by the glass. I look forward to going back as the evenings warm and the crowds get bigger.

I enjoyed a marvellous, relaxed lunch here. The hotel is unique - newly renovated art deco style, previously the Water Board building. The massive ground floor area is now the lounge and restaurant, with imposing columns, high ceiling and wonderful features. The restaurant, Wilmot, is lovely. Service is attentive, informal but excellent. We enjoyed a lovely Chargrilled Calamari Salad, very tender Steak, Spinach/Parmesan salad and Mash. Dessert was beautifully made Honeycomb (Hokey Pokey for Kiwi diners) ice cream, pieces and cake. Great coffee too - all round, an excellent meal and I would not hesitate to come here again. Thank you.

We only stayed over night during Vivid at the Primus Hotel Sydney. Whst a beautiful building. The Staff, Wow they all are a credit to the Hotel. This is from the Cleansers to the Front Desk staff. The rooms are great and very clean. The dinner was amazing. We had the shared meals on the menu. The dried aged Tomahawk Stake and the Suckling Pig. I strongly reccomend these to anyone. We struggle to try and finnish this and failed.

This hotel used to be a Water Board headquarters. The 6th floor is still has the original hallway making it look like a government building (which it was) or a school. It's awesome. The other floors have been made over but there are still bits and pieces of the original left behind (by the elevators). We stayed twice, once in an executive large room on 6th and once in a suite on 3rd (318). both were awesome and very spacious, the bath products are exceptional too. The location is very central and very close to the train to airport. Would love to stay here again, breakfast mehhh, but there are so many options around that's not an issue.

Worst! Worst! Worst service I have ever experienced. Unacceptable! We waiting over an hour for one person's food and the service staff were despicable. Not to mention the tacos that I ordered were horrible. All onions, nothing else. But nothing explains the service. I would never come again and I will make sure that no one I know ever comes here. Arrogant, rude and lazy staff!

This is a nice enough hotel. However we stayed on the sixth floor and had a shower with controls on one wall and the hand held show head on the opposite wall. It was awkward to control the water temperature. It is wonderful to see how an old government building has been reconfigured into a charming hotel

I had an absolutely excellent stay at the Primus Hotel. It's beautifully designed with lots of concrete walls and rich colors, space is not a compromise at all and the rooms with their fluffy carpet are very much home feeling. The bathrooms have shower and bathtub and feel like a little Spa. - My personal highlight was the breakfast menu which includes everything you could ask for, delicious omelettes that are included in the price and don't count as à la carte menu, tropical fruits, four different juices and great coffee. Staff will make sure to fulfill every wish and is very friendly. Also the in-room dining is delicious, it might take a little longer but that doesn't bother me if the food is so good. You can also find a beautiful rooftop pool and a gym at this hotel. - I am looking forward to come back here already at the end of the week.

Loved it, the mains were fantastic, desert was good, beautifully presented and staff were lovely attentive but not over the top. Highly recommend this place.
