I stayed at the hotel for six nights on a work trip. Although it claims to be a five-star hotel, it doesn’t measure up when compared to other hotels in that category. The location in the central business district is convenient, with shopping and the metro nearby, but it is quite noisy. When I checked in, I specifically asked the front desk if my room would be noisy, and I was assured it would not be. However, I was placed on the second floor, where I could hear everything from the street, as well as my neighbors opening their curtains each morning. If I were running the front desk, I would have attempted to move guests from lower floors to avoid the noise.

The biggest issues I encountered were with housekeeping and the front desk staff. My room was never properly cleaned, and when I inquired at the front desk, they simply informed me that they outsource their cleaning services. I had to complain three times. The floors were dirty, they did not pick up any used glasses or replace them with clean ones, and they failed to replace towels or clean the sinks. The rooms are small, and while the beds are comfortable, the sheets felt cold and uncomfortable. Additionally, there were no extra blankets in the room, making the overall experience feel similar to that of an upscale Holiday Inn.

The on-site restaurants are quite nice, but the front desk staff did not provide any information about them or other hotel amenities, which made it feel like a guessing game.

I would not choose to stay here again.

A good sized room with attention to detail on the design and the comforts at your fingertips (the touch screen electrical controls are easy to use and make life too easy!).
The bed was great, options for pillows and the staff can’t do enough for you.
Went for a great walk in Hyde Park which directly connected to the Domain and then the Botanical Gardens - a great way to start the morning and see the sights of the city.
The in room design for the bathroom and the amenities are of high class and make the luxury side of the stay present.
The location is great with the metro, train, light rail and restaurants close by.
Would stay here again.

The room, the staff on reception and the standard of cleaning in the room were outstanding! However, the service for breakfast was extremely poor!

The first morning I waited 15 minutes to have my order taken, I had to ask for this to happen. I received my food and at the 40 minute mark the person came out with the tea I had ordered, I could not wait any longer as I had to get to work.

Morning two, I waited 10 minutes to have my order taken. I still did not receive my pot of tea and did not even have a glass of water!

Morning three, when seated I asked to place my order straight away, my food and tea came out very quickly, however my eggs were not cooked the way I had asked so they had to re-do them.

With the standard of this hotel I would expect better.

The hotel is very well situated to get to everything in Sydney, walking distance from the waterfront.  The rooms were quaint, cozy and clean.  The property it self needs a bit of finesse.  The rooftop pool has no chairs/loungers and no towel is provided.  The gym is small but good.  There are 3 restaurants but only one really open for breakfast and a bar area…service was mediocre at best and you can’t get a coffee before 7 am.  I just think for the price we paid we could of gotten way better in Sydney.  It’s unfortunate because our last stay at MGallery was great.

The Porter House has been beautifully renovated, whist maintaining the character from the original old building. The rooms are beautiful and the bed was comfortable. The location is great and the nearby parking lot suggested by reception staff was cheaper than most hotel parking in the city. The staff were friendly and we enjoyed the touch of a welcome bottle of wine due to being in the Accor Club. The only improvement suggestion would be that breakfast was a bit lacklustre and could be improved - ours took a long time to come and was a bit underwhelming. Other than that the stay was perfect.
