We had a very nice stay at The Strand this weekend. Check in was easy and the manager kindly helped us with our luggage’s up the stairs. We had the Petite Plus room on level 2, even though we were on William st , we hardly heard any street noise at all. The room was nicely presented, probably a paint touch up would spruce things up. And new carpets in the general hallway and stairs. We had a lovely meal and cocktails up on the rooftop bar Kasbah.

Impeccable Service!
I called the day before Melbourne Cup to see if The Strand could fit us in for a casual work lunch and drinks. Jason, who took my call, was incredibly accommodating, arranging a table and a view of the race at short notice.

When we arrived, we had the best seats in the house. Jason’s service throughout the day was outstanding—he handled our large food and drink orders seamlessly and made sure everything was spot-on. The Public Bar food was exceptional, a step above standard pub fare, with high-quality produce and the kitchen delivered our meals in unison (seven mains and four sides, all at a perfect temperature!).

I’ll definitely be back and can’t wait to check out the rooftop bar as well. Cheers!

I had a lovely stay at this pub/hotel.  I was unexpectedly upgraded to a deluxe room which was an added bonus. My heavy suitcase was taken up 3 flights of stairs while I was waiting for check-in which I was very grateful for.  My room was lovely and a bathrobe was even provided.  There was a nice welcoming note as well.  I had dinner in the pub bistro.  I had a hankering for proper pub food after a holiday in India and I was not disappointed. My steak and mushroom pie with mashed potato was excellent.  Then to top it off I had a cocktail in the rooftop bar which was nice and I was made to feel welcome on my own.  A great stay.

The Strand has undergone a few changes recently, and while a fresh vibe and new energy are always exciting, what truly defines a great venue is its staff. This is the second time I’ve been served by Tom, and I felt compelled to share a positive review.

Tom consistently delivers exceptional customer service, which makes every visit memorable. As a late-night spot, The Strand inevitably deals with its share of intoxicated patrons, and Tom handles these situations with remarkable grace and professionalism.

He’s not only skilled at what he does but also comes across as a genuine and approachable person. It’s clear that The Strand is fortunate to have a bartender like Tom on their team. He truly elevates the experience and ensures customers feel welcome and well taken care of. Well done Tom!

Very happy and content with the service, such friendly and helpful staff that immediately took care of issues, etc. Great value for money in my opinion, best location, beautiful, modern, clean rooms and breakfast and water stations are add-ons. I would definitely book this one again :)

I love Love LOVE this hotel!!!! It's absolutely amazing. It has a unique design that has real soul. It is a one stop shop with hotel amenities you can't find at chain hotels. I am so happy I found!!! Made my trip in Australia

Well, for some reason I've actually been here twice, despite the fact that it is one of those pubs that I would probably be digging really, really deep for an excuse to even visit a second time. I guess it is because when I am writing reviews I like to visit a place to at least take a couple of photos (so that I know what I am talking about, as well as a bit of aide de memoir). Anyway, it's a pretty bland pub - sort of like what you would expect from a pub a number of years back, but without all of the trappings that a pub trying to replicate the old times has. Actually, all it really has is a sports bar/restaurant, and a pokies room out the back. Okay, the staff were pretty friendly, but that was about it.

I love this place. I would come here to drink, very friendly bartenders... well. There was a lady who wasn't very friendly at all, In fact was VERY rude to me for someone whose only visiting you, don't you wanna make a good impression? 2 other bartenders were what kept me coming back to hangout, thank you for some memorable nights

It's a backpackers upstairs and a pub downstairs... So you always have a range of people walking through. They do have food that's cheap and reasonably well cooked and offered up. They have huuuuge serves, so go in knowing this. And the food delivery is pretty quick too so perfect for that workday lunch break. There is also a regular there with a bird on his shoulder. Who is always immaculately dressed. I always wondered where the bird poops - obviously it's not on him!!! But anyway, it's a nice little pub with nice staff and good affordable tucker.

The Strand Hotel on William Street in East Sydney is a good fashioned old school pub. It seems to be pretty popular with tourists and the after work local crowd looking for a drink which brings me here. Unfortunately I'm with the work crowd but it's a long lunch so I'm not complaining! There's a few tables and chairs on the foot path if that's your desire but we grab a table inside and I keep a close eye on the television showing some replay of some sports thing. The bistro is pretty good and full of the good old fashion pub standards and all at a pretty cheap price too. I over hear the bar man telling someone about the new hostel upstairs and that it has a rooftop bbq area and wonder how much it would cost to live here on a semi permanent basis just minutes up the road from work. Actually that's way to close for comfort!

A quick review on a nice little Darlinghurst Pub. Comfortable little spot, they've got all the staples you'd expect, the big 10 beers, counter meals, poker machines, lots of sport. It doesn't attract the volume of patrons that the Lord Roberts nearby does, but we've had a few good chicken schnitzels with friends there. They've got a bottle shop that's open right up until the 10pm law, which is a godsend after realising you've run out of wine at a dinner party. As far as "Bottle-o's" go, it's small and you'll only see ten or fifteen different wines. Fine if you're in a pinch but if you're after variety, the cellars across the street is for you.
