Amazing little gem in the heart of Kings Cross. The staff is welcoming and knowledgeable. Drinks are always on point, Marco is so friendly and ready to give you advices. Sitting outside just give you that extra “aperitivo in Italy” kind of vibe!

Cute place, but very intimate. Not a lot of breathing room. You have to order food with your drink. We got crisps for $8 and I saw them put in Coles brand chips, but oh well.

The was $30 for the Piccolo (in short glass). It had a unique taste.

this little bar is the closest thing you’ll get to Italy here in Sydney 🍷 as soon as I saw the ‘Select Spritz’ umbrellas outside I knew it would be a favourite! Not only do they serve Select, the original Venetian spritz, but they have a vast array of typical Italian aperitivi & amari and of course wines that make me feel at right home! Customers have to order nibbles with their drinks, but the selection is so good you’ll want to order anyway (sardines & crackers, anchovies, potato chips and my favourite: the parsley & pecorino hot dog!)

went back a second time & got gifted a mini bottle of Select because they knew I love it so much ! Figurati!

What a gorgeous, tiny gem. The selection of amaro and spirits is amazing, the staff is incredibly attentive. The food is quaint and simple but carries an elegance well above it's station. The perfect date spot. The perfect spot to show off Sydney to a melbournian. Bring your out of state business partner, bring your dad, bring yourself and a good book. Such a wonderful spot!

I read that this place is something of a local landmark and/or institution, and their website seems to confirm this - though this could always be bias. Walking in here though I do remember this place featuring in an episode of the Australian TV series "Rake". Ah, Cleaver you're so doomed... Excuse me, I digress. Piccolo offers a range of foods from breakfast to light meals and some lunch-y options. Haven't tried their foods though. Coffee is a bit disappointingly so-so. Hope the mob won't mind me writing this, For a landmark I would've expected more flavour in my cup. Nothing that really stands out with this coffee *sob-sob*. Plus, I didn't like the fact that my barista was smoking just before. There's something about coffee and hygiene where ciggies don't come in well. So they taught me at barista school. Is coffee better on Sunday mornings? And if so, barista school taught me about consistency as well. *sigh* On a positive note, it's definitely a place of character with the photos on the wall, it's smallish size with two tables indoors and a few more out on the pavement. Easy to miss or walk past.

In operation for nearly 60 years, notes of the past do still linger at Piccolo. The vibrant, intimate and colourful cafe was a post war hang out for many after-show performers and musicians and is decked out with retro memorabilia and photos. Picollo is an absolute institution, and is jam packed with character and charm. A majority of this character and charm is supplied by vibrant barista Vittorio who never fails to brighten my day and makes an excellent brew. A favourite sunday morning pass time of mine is grabbing a table outside for a coffee and and chatting with the local characters that are all drawn to Piccolo like a magnet. With all nightclubs in the vicinity closing at various stages in the morning, you really get a great mix of local flavour and loads of entertainment from the steady stream of 'dazed' people stumbling or bouncing past, as well as the local characters passing by the bustling cafe. The cafe is closed for renovations, but is to re-open early December.
