Had a wonderful night at the Rockpool Bar…walk-ins only and we sat at the bar.   Morad was our bar tender for the evening and our bar bill exceeded the food bill.   Job well done Morad!   His recommendations were spot on and he steered us in the right direction.   Thanks.

Tried a number of wines and the 6hr cooked negroni which was pretty special.   The Hanky Funky cocktail with raspberry dust on the outside of the glass was also very special.

Summary of our meal:  prawn taco…yes please; anchovy bruschetta  tasty, and the beef tostada with jalapeño was four or five good mouthfuls of sheer enjoyment.

We had to try the much lauded Wagyu beef burger, with hand cut fat fries…and a glass of Morgan gamay … the burger really really good yet seemingly simple but without a doubt one of the best burgers you’ll eat.

And to top it all off was the pavlova standing tall and proud and dwarfing the plate…so good.

The bar is a really good option if you don’t want to do the full restaurant thing.

Top marks here…highly recommended.

My partner and I had our celebratory dinner at Rockpool Sydney Bar and Grill on 21.03.2025.

Great Ambience, Service and Meal.

From Seating to Serving, the wait staff have been courteous and attentive. They did not rush us throughout the entire evening and remained polite at all times.

Though Rockpool is known for its dry aged steak, the starters including the nutty chewy calamari and brilliantly spiced pipis with pork belly were all divine. The Semolina pasta with Moreton Bay Bug was a beautiful dish - Delicate and Succulent - we only wish there was more on the plate.

The Cape Grim Dry Aged Rib Eye on Bone, however, failed to live up to its reputation; far from tenderness or taste, and at $99 for 400g, quite disappointing. Surprisingly, the Wollemi Duck made up for the lackluster beef and outshone the rest of the dishes. The tender, juicy duck meat with a rich, gamey flavor, complemented by crispy skin and a well-balanced Plum sauce! It was to die for. At the end of the meal, the staff prompted us to get dessert, however, we were too full by then. Even then, they served us a complimentary chocolate muffin topped with salted caramel cream. It was a fine touch to a wonderful meal.

Thank you Rockpool. We will be back to visit your enterprise again to give the steak another chance and at the same time, indulge in our new favourite - Wollemi Duck. 👍🏼

I chose Rockpool for my valentine day dinner from my last great business experience in the Rockpool group dining restaurant. Overall, their food quality never let me down and I especially impressed by their selections of the dry aged.  Just a little drama at the reception when we were 30min late and I was acknowledged and totally for the 2 hour seating policy from the booking time, except the senior staff told me to take a bar seat if my partner can’t arrive in 15 min.  I mean that’s not very considerable request if she had know the public traffic situation on the day.  Apart from that, I would still regard this was a beautiful dine-in night.

Returned here for a second time because I had positive memories of my first dining experience a few years ago. The atmosphere is grand and service was quick and attentive. However, the steaks weren’t as amazing as my memory served. Same with the sides; they fell a little flat of my expectations. They’re not bad by any means but for the price I would have expected to be a little more impressed. However, oysters were good and plum sorbet dessert was refreshing.

One minor gripe - last time I came, they gave my brother a free dessert for his birthday. Doesn’t seem like they do that anymore since this was a few years back so was a bit disappointed when my partner did not receive one for his birthday.

Came here for a late mid-week business lunch. The service was great, we didn't have to wait too long for our entrees, then mains. The good was amazing. I'm fussy with my steak and typically am disappointed. When I order rare, it comes out overcooked. Here, it was perfection. So tender, flavoursome and cooked as it should be. The sides were a delight - mac and cheese was a surprise, was so good! Definitely a 10/10 overall - thank you!

Jag åt middag på Rockpool och det var lite av en besvikelse för priset. Definitivt inte den bästa biffen jag ätit i Sudney. Stämningen var trevlig.

Inte värt pengarna och service under standarder. Det är tänkt att vara min födelsedag och vi bokade ett bord i förväg för att se till att vi kommer att prova en speciell natt med biffar bara för att upptäcka att ingen skulle vilja ta vår beställning i 15 minuter så vi bestämde oss för att lämna och tillbringa natten och våra pengar på en annan plats eftersom det inte är värt värdet för pengarna. Du kan hitta andra platser med mycket bättre servicekvalitet, till exempel branddörr om du letar efter en speciell natt

Min man och jag gick för att njuta av en god biff i en trevlig restaurang. Denna restaurang ligger i en vacker gammal byggnad med fantastiska funktioner. Tyvärr restaurangen själv var av så svag belysning att det dämpade dess utmärkta funktioner. Rummet kändes smutsigt. Personalen var mycket välkomnande. Tyvärr servitören som var mycket kunnig om menyn lyssnade inte ordentligt och när vår beställning kom ut min mans beställning var fel. En ny biff måste tillagas. Under tiden måste min Luke varma biff ätas. Sidorna anlände ljumna utan servrar. De utlovade såserna kom halvvägs genom min måltid. Min mans måltid kom äntligen rykande varmt och läckerheter som han gillar. Han erbjöds aldrig några såser. Till personalens ära min mans biff krediterades och vi erbjöds gratis desserter som vi avböjde. Jag hoppas bara att det var en engångsföreteelse.

Jag var värd för en liten affärslunch på Rockpool den tis 10 juni 2025 . Det var det perfekta valet. Underbar personal, fantastisk mat och en vacker atmosfär. $ 1, 200 för 3 personer var rättvist för den utmärkta upplevelse som tillhandahålls. Jag kommer definitivt att återvända.

Min partner har varit på den här restaurangen för många gånger för att räkna över sitt företagsliv sedan 80-talet på George Street. Jag var däremot på besök för första gången denna månad. Entrén är storslagen, personalen är härlig och välkomnande och hjälpte oss till våra platser, omedelbart erbjuda rock till manteln område och ett glas bubblor. Fantastisk start på kvällen! Vi hade ett speciellt tillfälle och alla aspekter av det tillfället var uppfyllda . Min partners förrätt var utmärkt, min inte så mycket, den var intetsägande och förväntade sig bättre smaker. Andra gäster hade blandade recensioner på förrätter. Cape grim filé biff var väl tillagad (medel rare) med bernaise på sidan. Det tog ett tag att äta eftersom det var tätt att tugga igenom. Grönsaker, kål och potatis var trevligt men inte minnesvärt. Efterrätten, medan härlig, återigen inte minnesvärd. Vinet som valts av vår gäst var dock utmärkt som var starkvinet valt av servitören att para ihop med dessert. Jag älskade atmosfären, men efter vår måltid på Circa 1876 några nätter tidigare i Hunter Valley, som var exceptionellt, förväntade jag mig mer från Rockpool bar och grill. Enligt min partner var Rockpool bättre under tidigare år. Hoppas att matupplevelsen återgår till den exceptionella standarden.

Mitt betyg är 4 . 4 *. Jag debatterade en tid om den skulle vara högre eller lägre men det finns mindre nigglingar. Rockpool är en institution och av goda skäl. Jag kommer inte att bry sig om att skriva en annan recension som täcker de vanliga grunderna. Jag ska dock nämna några av nigglarna på kvällen. Först och främst är rummet fantastiskt. Men du kan inte välja vem du satt bredvid. På vår vardagsutflykt satt ett par herrar från byggbranschen bredvid oss. Allt eftersom tiden fortskrider och drinkarna flödade, blev deras konversation animerad och är pepprad med 4 bokstäver ord. Även med det ovan nämnda genomsnittliga avståndet mellan borden, väljer öronen ut alla valord. Det finns några mindre problem med tjänsten också. Personalen är vänlig och det finns många av dem men maten sattes framför fel matställe två gånger. Det här borde inte hända för en restaurang av den här kalibern. Det finns sätt att anteckna vem som beställde vad. Den sista punkten är värdet. Det är dyrt. Det är inte upprörande som ett komplett paket men värdeekvationen är lite fel när du lägger det bredvid de mindre frågor vi hade. Det är vettigt som en affärsmiddag på en veckonatt (på utgiftskontot) men om detta är en dejtkväll, skulle jag ha andra tankar.

Jag har aldrig varit mer besviken på en matupplevelse. När din syster är i stan försöker du göra det mesta av dessa sällsynta tillfällen; med 8 timmar som skiljer dig över hela staten. Så vi bokar vad vi trodde skulle vara den bästa platsen för en stor biff och catch up. Det slutade med att vi åkte innan vi var klara med vår huvudmåltid. Först tre överkokta $ 99 biffar levereras med "en ursäkt" från kocken... sedan djärvheten hos en ung servitris att begära att en av våra uppdrag sakta ner på sitt vin! ! Vi var i mitten av vår andra flaska Pinot delas mellan 3 av oss. Får jag tillägga att den ”uppmärksamma” personalen fyller på regelbundet. Den här gästen, min svåger, en mycket respekterad aktie- och stationsagent som arbetar hårdare än hälften av den närvarande personalen blev förödmjukad. Hellre än att ställa till en scen vi lämnade. Att aldrig återvända. Inte tillräckligt bra för en $ 960 kväll.

Atmosfären är levande och inbjudande, perfekt för en utekväll. Biffen tillagades perfekt, saftig och smakrik. Servicen var uppmärksam men inte överbelastande. Lite dyrt, men värt det för ett speciellt tillfälle!

Rockpool kom rekommenderas starkt av vår son under vår vistelse i SYD, och vi tog honom upp på det. Vi var definitivt inte besviken. Föreslår starkt att du gör bokningar eftersom det inte bara är mycket populär, men mycket exklusivt. En klädkod krävs, men å andra sidan är du ledigt klädd de har sektion där du kan vin & middag som är lika privat & exklusiv. De menyn tillgodoser biffar, förrätter & skaldjur men vi var här bara biff. Jag beställde ett 400 g ben - i revben - öga, medium rare som helt enkelt var superbt. Du skulle behöva beställa tillbehör re: grönsaker / sallader cos biffarna kommer utan sällskap. Min fru beställde en 250 g filé, medium som var utmärkt också. Servicen var oklanderlig, och vår enda begäran var för senap & pepparrot . . . som de hade ett komplett utbud av val. Jag önskade bara att de hade bjudit på en bakad potatis med gräddfil. Vi var mycket nöjda med vår biff erfarenhet och skulle starkt rekommendera Rockpool till familj och vänner.

En annan rekommendation för bra biff från concierge på PH Sydney! Ville ha en stor biff, och reserverade ett bord här. detta är en "vit handske" stil plats, tänk på Capital Grille, Smith & Wollensky, etc, i USA. Sommelier rekommenderar ett bra vin att para ihop med den läckra ribeye och en bricka med olika senap presenterades för vår provning med vår biff. Servicen var 5 stjärnor, matsalen är mycket klassisk, som de flesta steakhouses, och den här är inrymd i en gammal bank, så det är en mer exklusiv, tyst vibe... massor av män i kostym som har power middagar, etc. Bara ett bra ställe för en stor biff med bra vin och bra service,

Vi gick in, satte oss i baren och beställde ett glas vin och två alternativ från menyn. Vi var klädda i shorts och personalen behandlade oss dåligt. Lustigt, vi har rest till över 35 länder på 4 kontinenter och detta har varit den värsta erfarenhet som vi någonsin har stött på. Detta är en high end restaurang. En sak som beställdes var en signatursallad; den badades i ett saltbad och dränktes i olivolja; hemskt. Som min fru tillbringade 30 + år i hotellbranschen, Sofitel och Hilton övre end varumärken, var vi besvikna minst sagt. Priserna är upprörande för vad de erbjuder. Staden om full av mycket vänliga och tillmötesgående människor. Detta var ett slöseri på alla nivåer, och den långsamma och oförskämda tjänsten var minnesvärd.

Har varit här flera gånger under de senaste par i år och det har varit bra sedan det är ägarbyte men ikväll OMG ! Service skrämmande . . . nästan gick ut som vi inte kunde få någon att ta en beställning och sedan biffen - - - - - och det är en biff restaurang . . . en av dem helt oätlig som för tuff, en en kunde knappt gå igenom det . givet att de erbjöd sig att göra en annan men skadan var skedd . Det finns för många andra alternativ i Sydney där du inte behöver sätta upp med BS service , höga priser och dålig kvalitet kött . . Trevlig restaurang, bra atmosfär förrätter alla Bra, sommelier utmärkt men de gör sig inte några tjänster!

Bra läge, bra mat och vin. Hemsk service, hemskt bordsövervägande, mycket mycket själviska medgäster. Chefen var inte intresserad av att höra ett klagomål, mer intresserad av de pengar som det ”stora” bordet spenderade. Jag spenderade AUD 650 på en måltid för två och gav tips för de människor som lagade maten - hon (chefen) brydde sig inte och faktiskt sa “för sent att göra något åt ditt klagomål nu”. En riktigt tråkig upplevelse efter att ha velat göra detta i flera år.
