We had the most amazing day celebrating our son's second birthday at Taronga Zoo! It was the perfect place for a family day out, and we loved every minute of it.

The zoo is set in such a stunning location with breathtaking views of Sydney Harbour, which made the whole experience even more memorable. There was so much to see and do! The exhibits are incredibly well-maintained, and it’s clear that the animals are well cared for. Our little guy loved seeing all the animals up close and personal, especially the giraffes, elephants, and monkeys. The enclosures are spacious, and we could tell the animals were happy and relaxed, which made the experience even more enjoyable.

There’s so much to explore, from the well-laid-out walking trails to the wonderful playground areas where our son could run around and play. We didn’t get to see everything in one day, which is a testament to how much there is to enjoy at the zoo. We’ll definitely need to come back to finish exploring all the amazing exhibits.

Overall, Taronga Zoo made our son’s second birthday truly special. It was the perfect mix of fun, education, and outdoor adventure. We couldn’t have asked for a better place to celebrate such an important milestone, and we’re already planning our next visit! Highly recommend it to families – it’s a must-see experience in Sydney!

A large, and well organized zoo perfect for any ages. The animal enclosures are big, with plenty of entertainment, shade, and fresh water. It is clear this zoo is big on conservation. The 2 included shows which are the seals and the birds are definitely worth sitting in on. Early arrival recommended as the seats fill in really quickly even during the week. Staff is very friendly and knowledgeable as expected. Filled to the brim with activities and places to discover this zoo is a worthy visit! Took 5h to walk through at a slow but steady pace.

Would give it more stars if we could.  It was a lush forest and it showed that it was a well maintained zoo.  The staff were very friendly.

I recommend you arrive by ferry if you’re coming from the south side of the harbour.  You catch the ferry at Wharf 4 at Circular Quay.  When you arrive, I recommend you take the bus to the top entrance.  This way, you essentially walk down hill through the zoo back to the dock.

Amazing zoo that is very interactive if you want it to be.

Activities for the little ones and guides to help explain if you need. Animals were well displayed however I do wonder if the glass is sound proof as the visitors (especially the young ones) were very noisy.

A wide variety of animals and the map gives a wonderful guide on the direction and path to take.

Additionally the app is very useful with a very accurate GPS to show where you are at and headed.  If also has a popup when it senses you are near a specific exhibit and you can find out more about it.

Highly recommend the bird show but as a zookeeper told me, better get there at least 30 min if you want a spot in the shade. We got there about 40 min before and the shaded area was basically full for the 3pm show. Didn't get to see the other shows but will definitely come back for those.

If you can I would recommend packing food before you go as there are long lines for expensive food. I also recommend bringing your own bottle of water as there are refill stations all around and you will need it in the hot weather.

Finally I don't think this is the zoo's fault however be aware that the glass is quite dirty and often can make it hard to see the animals as there are often lots of hand prints and even cheeky prints on them. Kinda gross.

Such a gorgeous zoo with beautiful views of the Sydney skyline and harbour. Ferries frequently go to the zoo from circular quay wharf, and there is also parking at the zoo. The zoo is non-profit and has a focus on raising awareness for conservation of the animals. For example eating fish that is caught sustainably or choosing palm oil that is ethically sourced. They have paper maps as well as an app which tells you what time the zoo keeper talks are, which are all very interesting and educational. They have free water filling stations so recommend bringing a water bottle, and the zoo is pretty child friendly especially if you have a stroller.
