Not alot of people using Yelp outside US. So this can help others. Chat Thai is a quite large group for basic Thai resto in Sydney. Randswick location is closer to our stay. Less menu from what I understand. We ordered Omelette Chicken with rice on the side, Pad Thai, Grapao Chicken basil, Crab fried rice. Omelette was good, tasty and good portion. Chicken basil leaf was also good, similar to Chicken Mint Leaf in US. Pad Thai was slightly different, probably due this location. No minced peanut on side and noodle on soggy side. Crab Fried Rice was also good. Overall good and tasty Thai food. Reasonable portion and price. FYI, tip is compulsary in OZ, however it's a starting trend now. Tip jar and tip line on receipt. Service was excellent. "Fast food" OZ style meaning small dining area. I love Chat Thai at Randwick for a number of reasons. Firstly, of course the food is always impeccable. If I feel like Thai then this is my number one go to, I don't think I've tried any other Thai restaurants in the Eastern Suburbs. Secondly, it's a 30 second walk from my house, which probably contributes a lot to my first point but the pad see ew is too good to pass up. Their fish cakes are also juicy and full of flavour. Thirdly, the Randwick restaurant is uber cute as it's small and exclusive except everyone knows about it and it's constantly busy. The service is friendly and the atmosphere is lively. Great for all occasions.

The best Thai food I have had in a while! Maybe even ever! I had come to this restaurant with my cousin, who happens to be a Sydney local. I hadn't had a chance to try any Asian food in Sydney yet, and this was a recommendation as one of her favorites. By the time we arrived, we had just completed the Bondi to Coogee beach walk, so I had worked up a rather big appetite. We ended up ordering the cashew chicken, the duck curry, and two signature dishes recommended by my cousin. It was a starter salad with chicken, red onion, greens, and eggs, as well as a seafood glass noodle dish. Everything was absolutely delicious - flavorful and satisfying. The signature dishes were unlike any other Thai food I have had in the states. The prawns in the glass noodle dish were larger than any prawn I've ever seen so it must be something in the AUS waters! The restaurant is laid out with a street view and open view of the kitchen as well, so you can see the chefs at work! The vibe is very laidback and casual, which seems to be the general attitude in Sydney. For four substantial dishes and a couple sides of rice, this was about 80 AUD/60 US, which comes out to only $20/person with plenty of leftovers. A great value and some of the most delicious Thai food I've ever had! If only Chat Thai had restaurants in the US - it would quickly become a favorite staple! Would highly recommend!

Very very good. I had chicken pad Thai without the dried shrimp, and it was very good. The menus had a lot of pictures and it was very easy to customize the meal. I had friends with allergies and they were very accommodating to them. Constantly refilled the waters and the cups were so cool, definitely would come here and just drink water because they were so cool. Food came out very fast. Friendly server.

Came here on a Saturday night for dinner at like 5:30PM. The place wasn't too crowded but took a while to get the waitress' attention and order. We were in a rush to get to a 630 movie, so we needed some quick service. We ordered a thai basil chili chicken dish with rice and a minced pork dish, both were really yummy. Also had it for delivery on a Friday night. Took a while to get the lady on the phone because they were busy, but we ordered some spring rolls, the roasted duck with egg noodles, and the emerald duck with greens and some of the sticky rice with mango. All together it was about 60 bucks, which is a bit pricey but not too bad. They said it'd be 45 minutes to an hour but the food actually came in like 35 minutes, which was good. Spring rolls were crispy and delicious. The duck and egg noodles was yummy, as was the emerald duck. They gave us heaps of veggies. The mango rice was good, but I'm not big on coconut. Overall a really good Thai place to eat at or get delivery.

The smallest Chat Thai out of the successful Thai street food chain, the randwick restaurant proves that good things comes in small packages. The restaurant also differs from the other restaurants with the abundance of fresh air and see breeze from down the road, spicy Thai food + wine + see breeze = great summer night out. There is a catch, they don't serve sticky rice other than as a dessert, something that took me a while to get use to (tried suggesting it to them for years with no success haha) but everything else is spot on and a lot more relaxed atmosphere. If you're lucky you may find yourself rubbing shoulders with some local athletes/celebrities.

I went to the original Chat Thai years ago, completely oblivious to the fact that it was something of a Sydney institution. Beyond great food at reasonable prices, the frenetic quality of the Haymarket location is simply fun to be in. The fact, too, that it was also open until 2 am makes it a great late night option. But living far from the CBD, it was not a go-to place that I went to with any regularity. So imagine my surprise and delight when they decided to open a hole in the wall venue in Randwick. It's got everything the original shop has to offer, but with a bit more of a locals vibe. The food, however, is first rate and as good as its original and Pitt Street locations. It is small and can get extremely crowded on weekends. Sometimes it's fun to squeeze in and eat nose to nose with complete strangers; at other times, it's frankly annoying. Unsurprisingly, they do a lot of take away and that is my usual choice. Getting through to the restaurant on the phone and making oneself understood can be a trial. But be patient; the pay out is the best Thai food you're likely to get in Eastern Suburbs. Personal faves: the Emerald Duck and the Cashew Nut Chicken.

It felt as if Chat Thai started with a great reputation from day one. Only weeks after opening in this location it was a legend in the area for great value and superior quality Thai food. I once went for a birthday dinner, the traditional Australian Thai favourites were incredible, and presented with an artists touch, with true care in presentation (that makes all the difference) Although the size of the seating felt a bit on the squashy side, the staff were attentive and always very polite, the meals were reasonable, and served quickly. It's a bustling little quaint restaurant, with a strong following of locals, and it's sure to surprise even the most traditional Thai foodie with their food innovation and presentation.

This place has astounded me for years. Every night, and I mean every night, it has a queue out the door. Granted, its a pretty small place but still, it overflows. Intrigued, my flatties and I ordered some Thai take-away, something Sydney seems to be obsessed with. I went in to the charming, bustling nook, and was surprised by how cool it is. It seems a little out of place in Carrington rd, Coogee. The Massaman Curry was scrumptious, always the tell-tale sign of good Thai and we also ordered the snapper with lemongrass. When we got home though the fish was dry. I think it had been sitting in the alfoil too long. Everything else was to perfection though, and I can't help but think the fish would be delicious if eaten in. In fact, next time I am definitely sitting on one of the bench seats outside and soaking up that vibe.

This was the best Thai takeaway that I have had in years. We had the pad Thai and green curry. Both were made with incredibly fresh ingredients and jab an abundance of flavours.
