BangBang for brunch is a good place to be. Signature dish is the 'BangBang' stack and is delish. I also recently discovered the BRAT (bacon, rocket and avocado on sourdough toast). The coffee is good and despite having a reputation of bad service, I've always had good experiences here. I'll be back. I have this place on my weekend brunch rotation schedule.

Wanted to try a different lunch spot around Surry Hills with a friend and stumbled across Bangbang. Found on hilly Reservoir Street, this place is casual and cool, with pretty great coffee to boot. They also offer takeaway. You can get your typical brunch items, but once 12pm rolls around you can order burgers/sandwiches as well. I ordered the cheesy wagyu burger with shoestring fries and it was decent. It didn't blow my mind but it wasn't bad either. The service is great, as the staff is extremely friendly. Some tables are shared as well and there's outdoor seating, definitely a place to kick it to kill some time. Would come here again.

A rad little cafe nestled on the total babe of a street that is Reservoir. I had a brief but wonderful experience. I popped in for a quick juice, they have lovely bottled stuff; when the waiter saw that I was sitting down and not taking away he insisted on giving me the "full experience". Back it comes in a glass with a slice of fresh orange, ice and straws. He didn't need to do that but he did - and that's what matters.

I loved this place when I was in Sydney for a few weeks and would go here a lot for my early morning "small meal" (smaller than brunch, bigger than a pastry?). The coffee is good and strong, but the thing I will dream about fondly for the rest of my days is the homemade granola and yogurt. I know. Granola and yogurt? Get the hell out of here. But it is seriously delicious and the best rendition of the housemade granyo (a term I've just made up) I've experienced so far -- and being from Seattle in the U.S., I have had maaaany versions of it. It is delightfully coconut-y and just crunchy enough to be satisfying but without breaking your molars. The staff is also very laid back and friendly, and everything comes out super quick! What more could you want for a morning meal?

Sweet corn fritters with poached eggs, a very minuscule drizzle of maple syrup. An entree size meal for breakfast and over priced. Bland tasting, had to try and " wipe" the maple syrup off the side of the dish to get a bit of flavour. 2 stars for the hot coffee , and having an "interesting" menu. Have been here once before , at least then my meal have wonderful flavour. Will come back at some stage, but not on my list of fav places to go for brunch.

Passion: 8/10 Crema: 8/10 Coffee: Golden Cobra Sure if you start from central this cafe will give you a great work out with the hill to get here, but you'll be rewarded once you arrive with comfortable seats, good food and good coffee. The coffee they use here is Golden Cobra, which is an awesome option for cafes looking to avoid the industrial flavours of the more generic blends, while still maintaining a great, robust (works well with milk) profile. It is unfortunate that they don't offer single origin coffees for black drinkers, but it is an understandable business decision. At $3 for an espresso and $3.3 for a flat white, they are still at the very affordable price end of the spectrum. They also have a #powerwhoring spot in the table right in front of the till. THE BURGER WARS ARE OVER bang bang wins. I've eaten all the "best" burgers in Sydney and this is easily one of the best if not the best. I had the all star burger which is basically a cheese burger with tomato and lettuce. The bun was perfect, the sauce solid and it was served up an an awesome paper bag. Also, the coffee is outstanding.

Went there for brunch, I really liked the style of the place, we got some flat whites and their signature dish, the Stack. It was a stack of thin crunchy hash browns, topped with spinach, gem-like bright eggs, crisp bacon and hollandaise sauce!! It was delicious! Will definitely be coming back to try other items on the menu that looked interesting!! Plus the staff was super friendly and the food came quickly!

This cafe is on a quite suburban street in Surry Hills. To the point, were I was certain that I walked down the wrong street. But there in the middle of the street is this little funky cafe. The coffee here is quite dark, which is my personal choice. It is not as smooth as other places in the area, but it is a good dark bean. And relatively cheaper than other places. I didn't have time to try to food - but it looked impressive. Will be coming back to give it a go.

There are many great things about Bangbang Cafe in Surry Hills. First of all, it's a few minutes from my apartment. It's a pleasure to pop over for coffee, meet folks there for business meetings, and recommend people who stay with us to go over as their first port of call. I'd mention the coffee as of key importance. In fact, a year or two ago, it went through a phase (as I suppose cafes do) where I felt conflicted, because I liked the cafe to hang out in, but I wasn't crazy about the coffee. But now, they're back up there with the best in Surry Hills: strong and delicious. The cafe's gone through some big changes. Years ago, when I first arrived in Sydney, it was a great cafe called Plissé: excellent food and sweets. If memory serves, it went through one or two other incarnations which were sadly mediocre until Alan Thompson, the DJ, took it over with a British-inspired menu, and groovy decor. Alan's moved onto bigger and brighter things at Barista and Cook in Green Square. I happened to try and get in on opening day (we didn't mean to go on opening day!): it was so packed that we were warned we wouldn't even be able to get a coffee for 45 minutes. Better luck next time. Alan's a hard act to follow so I'm pleased to see Matt and his crew putting their own spin on the place, changing the decor and moving in a new direction. They've mostly kept the delicious breakfast menu, but are switching things up for lunch. Looks good. I'm looking forward to trying it out. The inventive burgers have caught my eye. I've so far stuck to the breakfast menu, and it's delicious. The classic corn fritters of Sydney... here served with crispy bacon, two poached eggs, and maple syrup. It was really very good, even though I found it a touch salty on the day. But beautifully presented, and portioned... and... well, it was yum. A mate who had the same thing found it a bit rich for a weekday , but admitted he loved the maple syrup. My friend who had blueberry pancakes found them delicious, and I thought the serving size was just right (since in North America, you often get a stack as big as your head). Oh, and the pea, feta and avocado mixture I had on toast this morning was very, very nice. In the meantime, just outside the cafe, the sidewalk has suddenly become this oasis of greenery and looks beautiful: the best of Surry Hills.
