I visited this establishment on a food tour a few weeks ago and wish I'd had more time to try other things or visit again. Especially since another venue had served me some of the worst meat pies I'd ever had before... That said, The Pie Tin was a charming spot, inside and out. My tour group ended up at a large table with a ton of chairs digging into our meat pies. I shared a beef one with another person on my tour and let me tell you... The beef meat pies prepared by The Pie Tin are AMAZING! The crust was flaky and seemed buttery, and the beef innards were tender and well seasoned. I inhaled it so quickly I didn't take a pic. The Pie Tin restored my interest in beef pies! Definitely check them out. Get a sweet pie while you're there too, I bet those are awesome also!

Great spot to come to for pies, both sweet and savory. The crusts are well crafted, either flaky or crunchy, and the pies are baked fresh daily. The steak diane seemed to be a fast seller, and was a great choice with the scalloped potatoes, tender meat and crunchy crust. The bbq brisket was also very tender with a flaky crust and had natural sweetness from the carrots. The staff were quick and cordial, and the place had a homey feel with wooden seating. Great place to grab a tasty pie!

On Christmas Eve we picked up three full-sized sweet pies and 5 mini savory pies. The savory pies for lunch on that day were 2 pulled pork, 1 chicken with truffle, 1 mince pie, and Mac and cheese to share. I was not impressed with my chicken/truffle but everyone enjoyed their pies. We all enjoyed the Mac and cheese, which was shared by all of us. The sweet pies were pecan, apple, and lemon crème brûlée. Yum

My friend had been raving about The Pie Tin since the moment I have met her, and I am so excited that I finally had the chance to go. There were several flavor options to choose from, but this was my first Australian pie so I went with the classic mince pie. I also got a side of the ancient grain salad and a soda for 14 bucks! My pie was incredible , I loved the flakiness, I loved the mince, and I was so sad to see that I had finished everything on my plate. I'm just so disappointed that I was too full to get a slice of dessert pie. This place did not disappoint and I am so grateful for the visit.

What a range of pies and sausage rolls!! The pies are large and very filling, freshly baked everyday and are totally the right food when it is a cold winters day. The price of the pies drops at 9.30pm when they become 2 for 1.

I got the minced pie and it was decent. From what I hear, this is an authentic Australian dish. I wouldn't mind going back and trying another pie.

Small place but a fun communal table in the Center! Amazing pies - both the savoury and the sweet! Seriously addictive. My only complaint is that it is too good and the pieces are too large for the dessert pies. It is hard to have a favorite but I think the peanut butter and chocolate pie wins but I need more evidence (ie more pies) to really make that call. The lime one I have had a bite of - yum! And my next one will be a sour cherrry pie. As for savoury, the pulled pork is amazing although it is a little weird with the apples in it. I liked it but weird. I have had the beef brisket (slow roasted deliciousness). Don't even try to have the 'pie meal' where the pie comes with two side dishes because then you won't be able to have the dessert pies without having your stomach pumped. Of course you can just sit there and have a glass of wine or two to digest. And they even have decent coffee, too. Yes, I have spent way too long for a nice lunch there. I am hungry again wriring this review. What an awesome place.

Being a Canadian, pies aren't as extravagant here than they are in Australia. So when I came here, I obviously had to buy two pies to have to myself. I got their duck confit and their short rib pies. For around $7-8 each these pies were definitely worth the money. These are more elevated than the typical fare you would get at an average bake shop, but they are thoroughly enjoyable both warm and even cold the next day. If you're in Newton, give this place a try you won't regret it!

This is hands down THE best pie shop I've ever visited. Although it is of course a café. The eyes boggle from the moment you look at the gourmet selection staring right back at'cha. There's something to tantalise everyone's taste buds. At $7.95 they are value for money. The pies are the thickest in town and I'm not saying they look stupid, but they are insanely thick! I chose the butter chicken with green beans pie. To make it a meal you get 2 choices of salad for $13.95. Served on canteen metal plates, characteristic of the feel which goes with the name. There's a cool open plan dining area with open windows so you get a nice breeze. There is an awesome selection of dessert style pies on offer. I look forward to trying a few of them over a period of time. I would have given The Pie Tin 5 stars even on my first visit. My one disappointment though is that this café only supplies forks for dine in. What well deserving 5 star café doesn't have knives as part of their eating utensils? Overall, that is my only criticism and you definitely should create your own experience and pick up your mother sized pie with your hands. This is the way they were made to be enjoyed, right?!
