I came to this restaurant with high expectations to celebrate a birthday, but from the start, I was met with the cold and arrogant attitude of the manager in black. This set a negative tone for the entire evening. The service was extremely slow, making the dining experience feel unnecessarily dragged out.

The food presentation was undeniably beautiful and refined, but the taste was disappointingly mediocre—some dishes even felt like a complete failure. For a restaurant of this level, such quality was far from acceptable.

What shocked me most was the payment process. The card machine automatically set a 10% tip without asking for my consent. When I deliberately removed the tip, the manager’s attitude turned visibly unpleasant. He snatched the machine away and quickly muttered something before walking off, without the slightest hint of courtesy.

Given this experience, I can understand why this restaurant was downgraded from a three-hat to a two-hat rating. If they don’t improve their service and food quality, things will likely get even worse in the future. Unfortunately, this visit was a huge disappointment, and I won’t be coming back.

Definitely a longer dining experience, especially with the wine pairings. We loved the view at this restaurant as we were seated right by the windows. Food was good, there were no issues however there wasn't a dish that particularly wowed us. We've heard from friends that Lumi's previous menus were better but this was our first time dining with them, so we'll have to give them another chance when there's a new set menu. Nonetheless, we had a great time celebrating our anniversary here!

Was looking forward to our dinner experience, but the food delivered isn’t worth the price charged and although the food looks good, the taste is lacking. They have refining to do, and figure out how to create a better plate of food. As a customer, the tension among the head chef and rest of the team is audible and palpable. Haven’t heard a chef curse in a long time.

Firstly, the numerous snacks lack acid to cut through the fat. Fried items are left oily and greasy. Lots of soft blended items with more soft smears. Lots of fat and sweet; leading to overly sweet and savory dishes. The size of some of the snacks can be smaller to allow 1-2 bites. Dishes are too overly deconstructed mix of different mush.

On the other hand, the best dishes are the crudo, lobster dish, and desserts. The quail pie is just a pile of soft mush without any contrasting textures.

Secondly, I feel bad for the servers, as there aren’t enough servers for the amount of tables being served. Kitchen repetitively asked for service, only to be met with lack of man power. The entire meal took around 3 hours; good initial pace, then fell apart with the main courses with 20-30 minute wait times between dishes.

The sake pairing is lackluster…..need to throw in some less sweet/umame heavy options, rather than constant unfiltered sake options that just amplifies the already numerous sweet-savory dishes. Need a sake that cuts through the sweet-savory-fat dishes without adding more umame/heaviness. Mocktails and wine selection were excellent.

In summary, at its current state, I wouldn’t recommend, especially at 350 per head.

I visited for a birthday event in the evening. Each menu item had distinct characteristics in its main ingredients, and the balance of accompanying sauces and garnishes was excellent. Since it was the last seating, the amuse-bouches arrived in quick succession, with two or three served at once before finishing the first one, which was a bit disappointing. The main course was excellent, but there was quite a long wait between the appetizer and the main course, so I was already quite full by the time the main dish arrived.

LuMi deserves to be crowned the best restaurant in Sydney, and arguably, in all of Australia. 🇦🇺 The menu is a masterpiece—beautifully crafted dishes with amazing flavors done with flawless artistry.

Service is top-notch, attentive and friendly front of house. Cozy and warm ambiance.

I could go on and on about how amazing this restaurant is but LuMi is a place that every food lover should experience in Sydney!
