It's not often vegetables are featured as mains. I didn't mind since I enjoy vegetables. My favourite dish was the zucchini.

The different textures came together well. I liked that the flavours were complex yet subtle and balanced. It seemed many restaurants tend to be liberal with seasonings these days.

It's obvious that Lumen pays careful attention to the ingredients, and it shows in the food.

This is hands-down one of the best cafes in North Melbourne, if not the city! We’re regulars here, picking up their incredible coffee almost every day, and it never disappoints. Their Egg Bun Sandwich (2 Burd Eggs, Aged Cheddar, Herb Aioli, Sesame Milk Bun) is absolutely divine... every bite is perfection!  They also serve excellent fresh croissants.

Emma, the owner, is a warm and passionate soul. Her dedication to creating a welcoming space and serving top-quality food and drinks truly shines through.

If you’re in North Melbourne, do yourself a favor and come here .. you’ll quickly understand why we keep coming back!

Quintessential Melbourne cafe. The usual, but elevated. I had soft boiled egg on sourdough. I don't love the cold egg trend, but the pickles, butter and huge slabs of chewy sourdough redeemed it. Husband had granola with stewed fruit and loved it. Coffee excellent. Great service. No notes.

Hubby and myself took a four day break in Melbourne and did a bit of research for coffee as hubby appreciates a good one. Lumen People didn’t disappoint and we ended up returning last morning. We both ordered exactly the same things maybe boring but oh so delicious. Hubby had toast (amazing rustic sourdough, generous serving) with beautiful pear, apple and fennel seed jam. I had porridge and please just look at the photo, how can porridge be so beautiful and full of different flavours. Will be back next time we visit Melbourne that’s for sure.

Lovely experience in this little restaurant. Surprising pairings and locally sourced products, a real treat for your tastebuds! I have already texted my fellow foodie friends to let them know of this place. Service was also good and friendly and the place is nicely decorated. Portions are relatively small but prices are too. Highly recommend!
