the staff at the entrance was really pleasant i n helping us get our table ready. ordered the wiener schnitzel + boiled beef. the schnitzel was really crisp and well fried, unlike others i’ve tried previously and it didn’t feel dry after finishing it. nil sauces needed. the boiled beef was also easily chewable which was well complemented with the sauce. good portion for both, and shallots are easily removable for those who don’t like it as much!

Whatever dining experience you prefer, Salzburg has somewhere for you to try the best schnitzel it has to offer. The best in Salzburg ! One of the best Schnitzels we’ve ever had during our one week long holiday in Austria - the large serving portions are a plus. In the open kitchen (which is also visible from outside), you can see the schnitzels being pounded. The taste, quality, serving size of everything we have ordered was perfect. The restaurant gets full even on a weekdays.

I have had an excellent meal at the Salzburg branch of this fine dining Austrian cuisine restaurant.

The restaurant interior is very elegant, with the background playing classical music adding to the high-end ambience.

Famous for its Wiener Schnitzel dish, the restaurant has a preparation station where people from outside the restaurant can observe the chef prepare the schnitzels.

My assigned area waiter was a pro and helpful.

I started my meal with the superb bouillon made from boiled beef soup. The dark rye house bread was very good.

For the main course, I selected the Wiener Schnitzel with potato salad. As with the soup, it was splendid.

For dessert, the Rigó Jancsi (Hungarian chocolate cake with whipped cream) was delicious.

The Meissl & Schadn Salzburg is a fine restaurant which I recommend a visit to. When visiting Vienna a few days later, I stopped by the local branch for another excellent meal experience.

If you are serious about experiencing the most amazing schnitzel, this is definitely the place for you. Portion size is huge, we had one cooked in lard and another in butter and while both are delicious the taste profile is noticeably different. I would also suggest enjoying a large beer or two as it rounds out the meal.
The service is helpful and friendly.
Definitely worth booking if you are interested.

(Had reservations and dined on Christmas day)The best soup ever! We ordered all of them. Our favorites were the Hungarian fish soup and the Emperor's soup. Dessert was a fantastic souffle. Amazing service and atmosphere. Would recommend to anyone. Our server overheard that we just got engaged and brought complimentary champagne. It was so kind.
