Gorgeous building. There floors of exhibitions. Very cool. The best part was that they give you chips for the cost room lockers because they know the tourists don’t carry euro coins.

Great modern art exhibition. Make sure to check the downstairs floor, it is included in the base ticket. I wish the student discount were more student friendly, but other than that it was a good experience.

I visited there during the Picasso & Monet exhibition. It was an amazing exhibition. I could spend hours exploring it and go there multiple times. It takes you to different worlds.

You wouldn’t expect from a generously funded public institution to be a hotspot of neoliberal capitalism. However the pricing of the tickets proves otherwise: the student ticket is 13,90 Euro (in 2024). This is 2 Eur reduction from the full price. According to Albertina Modern there is a 13% income gap between students and non-students?

Also the fact that the student ticket is only available for visitors under the age of 25 means that for most phd students the museum is not accessible for a reduced price. The ticketing policy also doesn’t take into account the principles of lifelong learning and the precarious situation of cultural workers and art students.

Albertina is amplifying the idea that modern art is a privilege accessible to the global elite, instead of working against it.
