Clean Place with a Wonderful Smell – The Desserts Are Excellent

The place was very clean, and the smell of butter and sugar as you walk in is absolutely delightful. The staff were kind and spoke excellent English. We didn’t have to wait at all to be seated inside, which was a big plus.

We tried the apple strudel, dukatenbuchteln, and kaiserschmarrn. The apple strudel was decent, though I’ve had better before. However, the kaiserschmarrn and especially the dukatenbuchteln are absolute must-tries. We waited around 20–25 minutes for the dukatenbuchteln, but the other desserts arrived quickly.

As for the prices, I honestly don’t think it was expensive for what we got. Considering the quality of the desserts and the overall atmosphere, I’ve paid much more in other countries for less. Definitely worth a visit!

Demel is a really nice cafè in Vienna! I did find many other branches but I personally loved their original place. The food was great and we loved their pancakes and Sachertorte! The service was nice and fast and the atmosphere was great with a nice wind and beautiful temperatures. Overall, I would recommend coming here for some deserts when in Vienna!

First visit was takeaway. Had hot chocolate, vanilla donut and some chocolate pastry. Loved the hot chocolate and chocolate pastry.

Second visit I secured a table. Got a cold chocolate drink, the Dory chocolate cake slice and pancake. The latter two is alright

Note: there is almost always a massive line and you are bound to wait up to 20 minutes.

There was a queue when I arrived, but the staff handled it efficiently and professionally, which made the wait feel smooth.

The atmosphere inside is elegant, the pastries are outstanding, and the coffee is just as you’d expect in Vienna perfect.

As rain suddenly poured, crowds quickly gathered—but after just a 5-minute wait, I was seated inside this historic spot.

Tried my first Einspänner in Austria here—lightly sweetened whipped cream over bold coffee. Nice, but I personally prefer a classic Melange (my forever favorite).

I also ordered a club sandwich, which came with a huge bowl of fries—honestly felt like the fries were the main dish! The sandwich was just okay… Bread was a bit dry, and I’ve had better elsewhere.
