We tried the main dishes they have for the week. Trio schnitzel and roast pork crackling - and the roast pork crackling reminded me of our food in the Philippines 🇵🇭
That’s why I like it!

We had a reservation but we came on a Tuesday night so it was empty and we didn’t really needed a reservation, so that’s good.

We were so very hungry today that I forgot to take food pics….and the fact that it was so delicious and then it was gone!

Kind staff, such quick service, great prices, and we were just really happy. Such a wonderful gem down a Side road from St. Stephens. I highly recommend!

Authentic tasting food, a fresh menu that changes and lovely service, what more can you ask for! Really enjoyed our dishes and would highly recommend them. The pork dumplings and casserole  (but remember the menu changes weekly!)

this place was recommended to us by some friends and judging by the reviews here, it should have been great. but it’s not.

it’s a very small (5 tables) place with a short menu, uncomfortable chairs and a punk (read as janky) esthetics. one “chef” and one server.

the first time we went it was full so had to come back the next day.

we ordered and then watched how 3/4 delivery orders were received, prepared and offered to the couriers.

we finally received our food which was mediocre at best. it’s the kind of food you get at a 24/7 metro station junk fast food.
all served in delivery boxes because of course they don’t have cutlery (very punk very hipster). check out my other reviews for actually good food in vienna

tldr: order at home if curious, avoid if you like good food.

We had a delicious meal at Schachtelwirt. Being both creative and traditional at the same time, we enjoyed different dishes with a personal touch. The menu changes every week, which makes it a great option to try new dishes. I highly recommend some salads or soups as starters, then a strong meal with roasted pork, breadcrumbs or dumplings, and then Oliver's chocolate cake if it's available! As important as the food: great attention and location too.
