Truly exceptional from start to finish, this meal absolutely blew me away. There is a good reason Steirereck has 2 stars - they are well-earned! My husband and I each had the 5-course lunch menu and chose totally different selections, yet we both felt strongly that each and every last dish was truly fantastic. The dishes really showcase the best of Viennese cuisine and the highest quality ingredients. Some highlights for me were the traditional Viennese wedding soup, the duck, and the noodle and poppy seed dessert dish, each a nod to authentic Viennese ingredients. The service was absolutely perfect, as well. We were especially impressed with the cheese selection and the knowledge and expertise of the fromager, who customized a selection of cheeses individual to my husband and I and our tastes and preferences. I also have a tree nut allergy, which the staff was able to accommodate with great care and grace. I always appreciate this so much as it helps put my mind at ease to enjoy the experience so much more. Also, as we dined at Steirereck during the month of December, there were several thoughtful, adorable Christmas touches, like traditional Austrian Christmas cookies, prepared fresh for us from the cart. Finally, the atmosphere and decor is chic, modern, and bright while maintaining a coziness. I highly recommend Steirereck to anyone looking for a truly special and memorable, top-tier dining experience, or anyone who wants to experience the best of Vienna's cuisine.
