Relaxed dining on a side terrace overlooking a garden, with a small kids play area. The relaxed vibe continues with the food, with lots of classic Austrian dishes done well.

This is the sort of place you can easily come to often, and we drop by after a hike or if we’re nearby in town. Worth a reservation during peak season. For an early lunch in the summer, we’ve always found space available.

Friendly service, although if you are sitting outside and no one is around, just stick your head in the door to say hi, and they’ll come right out.

This was such a pleasant (and tasty) surprise!

We went there for dinner on a Monday night in late August.  The place looks like a traditional Austrian house, low ceilings, wood everywhere, really cosy and pleasant.

The waiters were really kind and accommodating with us not knowing any German, which felt really nice.

I had the Grostl Fried potatoes with black pudding. The small portion was plenty for one person. Definitely a GREAT choice. The black pudding was incredibly delicious, the potatoes are like roughly chopped and fried, comes with chopped onions and bacon, all fried. What a treat!

My partner had veal schnitzel, which was also SO nice. The bread coating was really crunchy, the meat was so so so tasty. You get two pieces of it and redcurrant sauce.

For dessert I ordered a crème brulée, which was absolutely incredible. My partner ordered an Apple Struddle. I think it was the BEST one we had all week, all the spices and sweetness were there, as expected, nothing was missing. The portion was big, so it's easily a plate for two.

Young people are not welcome here. Been here with my parents a lot and got premium service but I realized this weekend the Gastfreuendlichkeit here is FAKE. In addition, take a look at the schnitzel in the picture below then you can decide for yourself if you want to eat chicken-nuggets aka schnitzel or not :-)
