What a discovery. This was my first time eating at Kanodou and you can be sure it won't be the last. I love African food & their restaurants but sometimes you crave a restaurant experience while there's a lack there of. Not a Kanodou! You enter a nice interior with dimmed lights that put you at ease & convey intimacy. The restaurant owner Mustafa was the perfect host: he answered every question with a kindness and a smile. He recommended terrific meals to us. The service overall deserves a 10/10, the best I've gotten in an African restaurant thus far. Now comes what you're most interested in: the food & the drinks! I'm not exaggerating when I say heavenly! The juice mocktail was one of the best I've tasted thus far and don't let me start on the Lamb mafe: first time and it was my best choice. The lamb melted in my mouth, this together with a well balanced peanut sauce. Yes! African food in a cozy,quality, intimate & rich setting: the perfect combination!

This very clean and newly updated place advertises the exotic nature of it's menu. It's one of the only restaurants I've ever seen (in any country) that presents a variety of dishes typical of different African countries. At least some of the people running it are from Senegal, and the whole fish I ordered was at least as good as my local Senegalese restaurant in the U.S. The vegetable potage I ordered was excellent and not too greasy. Kanadou also had a decent selection of drinks.

A simple, relaxed African restaurant that serves food that is light and full of flavor. Somewhat afar from the actual African quarter of Brussels (Matongué), but that should not put you off from trying it. You'll be pleasantly surprised. Inside the atmosphere is relaxed and service is friendly, although I did find it a little too devoid of any form of decoration. Looks aside, we started the meal with cod fritters (acra de morue) and some salad. That was followed by Yassa chicken and lamb Mafé. The fritters were just right, moist fish filling with a delicately fried batter. A squeeze of lemon later and I was a happy diner. The ensuing main courses were both very good and they managed to keep the Mafé sauce light and digest. Overall I can't complain. They don't over spice their food so that it is acceptable to most palates. But if you'd like to take it up a notch you should ask and they'll bring you some added spice. This is a good address, slightly more upmarket than the restaurants in and around Matongué, but certainly one to try if you wish to sample some African flavors. As we left, the table beside us was about to dig in to a Senegalese 'rice of fish', Tiébou Diene, which looked so delightful, I now have an added reason to go back!

Food was excellent (good starter + spicy chicken curry).... Service was absolutely friendly and attentive. Should we come back to Brussels again, we would surely appreciate going there again !!!!!!
